realistic expectations How likely am I to become an expert player if I give poker my full attention.I've been playing for four years a couple of hours a day and I've read 5 poker books.I know I've got a long way to go but I have one advantage.I'm disabled and do not leave the house very often.I don't work because I can't which means I have much more time to devote towards learning poker. I see lots of young poker pros and wonder how long it took them to master poker.Do you have to be super smart to succeed at poker? Is there a best way to learn?

ok this is coming from a non expert but one that has been playing poker for let's just say quite the while. i'd suggest more reading to be sure, check out geeks.bz they have a huge amount of e-books. maybe join a study group. check out some other card player sites if you haven't most will have strategy articles and peer hand review forums. btw i like how you said your disability is an advantage. and keep in mind poker takes a lifetime to master don't let that ever deter you. hope to meet on the felt someday soon. “It is better to take many small steps in the right direction than to make a great leap forward only to stumble backward.” - chinese proverb

I play poker for quite sometime but only lately I've been taking it seriously (not professionaly though) and in my humble and extremely unexperienced opinion studying, not only books but also your own game is what makes your game better in the long run. How long it takes? I guess it depends on the person. I've played with a guy that was lurking on a online poker school for one week and he played wonderfuly while others don't get the basics beyond the rules. I know one person that was fired, bought some books on Amazon and some months later is pulling more than her previous fulltime job. So some are fast, some are slow, for some reason I don't really know.
