Re-buy in tourney?

Is it a good idea to re-buy during a tourney? I see alot of people go all-in early just to double rebuy. It seems to me likr you just invested a lot more to lose if you are going to bet like that. What is everyone's opinion on this?

bad idea

I see people going allin on the first hand as well, no point of that, just rebuy once instead of having to rebuy twice. I believe that you should rebuy though on your first hand, so the 2nd hand you are double your starting chips...it just makes sense as almost everyone else does it. Always addon too. I just think going in on the first hand is just a waste of your buyin? You can definately double up, but you are risking more money on possibly a coinflip or worse. Not sure why people do this.

So you mean, if I lose the first hand, say just like 20 or 30 bucks to get below the 1500 chips so I can rebuy, I should do it then and double my chips?

I don't agree with this. Rebuying is great because it gives you a license to gamble early in order to accumulate a large stack for the later rounds. Obviously you shouldn't go all in with nothing but its definitely ok to take some risks in order to build a stack.

And btw I officially advocate risking your stack on a coinflip early on, specially if your br'd properly and can afford a rebuy. Afterall QQ vs AK is practically a coinflip and are you really going to fold either of those to an all in bet early on??? If you do then I don't think your taking enough risk to win a tournament.

Rebuy tournement are games where people gamble more then in other tournements...
If you got a bad beat you should rebuy once because you will probably win the next time + double up...
You need to accumulat chips fast in rebuy tournements...

The reason why good players re-buy a lot is cause they have EV+ to do so.
If you invest 12$ in a 2$ re-buy, and get 15$ return (+3$), then that is better than investing just 2$ and get 4$ return (+2$).

Well, there are certainly advantages and disadvantages of both.

If your gonna go all in every hand, this can be a good thing as you can build yourself a very good stack and have a lot of chips by the time the pay and final table comes around. But then ofcourse, you have spent more money than everyone else has.

If you dont want to do this, then you probably will want to rebuy first hand and give yourself 3k. You can then take out the players normally or the people who go all in every hand.

Hope this helped!

I realy don't rebuy because I'm getting angry and it is bad for me. Some players just go all in to see theyr luck, and then thay play some cards.

Yesterday I played in rebuy tourny. Yeah the players risk much more than in a freezout tourney. Most of the players rebuy because with bigger stack they are in better position.
I usually rebuy once in such tournaments.
