| QJs from the BB; play or not? Okay, below is the hand I just played. I've noticed that some plrys suggest dropping hands like this or; KJ, K10, QJ, off suit when in the BB. For this hand I was suited and hit the flush on the turn; but generally speaking would you play this from the BB or SB w/ other calls /or pf-raises in front of you? | thanks for the advice! Pot build up too high if i miss the turn u think? I know I played this very aggresively- I have alot of hand history with opps. which is why I played it this way, in my mind I was trying to get opp. to pot commit because of prev. exeperiences, but you r right, i kinda played it maybe by some perspectives as an aggro-donk; i def. wasn't playing At the opp. but still, also, sorry about havin names of ppl in there, i am not used 2 posting hand histories, it won;t happen again. when i lok back on hands it adds a whole new dimension; thanks Last edited by taaron : 5th September 2011 at 11:10 PM. |

| given how you played you might as well shove the flop as you are pot-committed anyway. your raising range in the BB should be really tight in this spot as many players (as you can see) will call big raises after they've limped and you are out of position. I'd only raise something like TT+/AQ+ here |

| re: QJs from the BB; play or not? poker Blinds are low and you have an ok hand at best. I like checking preflop here because there isn't really any reason to build up a large pot with a raise. I like seeing a free flop, seeing if we hit, and then going from there. Also, if the SB folds, you'll be playing your hand out of position-so, if you miss you're either check/folding your chips away or betting out to try and represent and could end up losing a lot of chips unnecessarily in the early rounds. Which is something you really don't want to do with a mere QJs. Seeing a flop cheap and hitting your draw is good because you can make smaller bets on your draw and risk much less (if you have to fold) than you would if you had raise preflop. With your flop bet, you had already risked 915 chips out of your starting 1470 stack and would be committed to call an all-in on the turn if you had missed. |

| QJs is a great example of a hand that plays multiway - if you hit a flush/straight it'll crush everyone else's limping range (lower straights, worse flushes, two pairs, sets) so you'll get paid off a lot. On the other hand, if you raise and squeeze out all those hands you'll lose value and also put yourself in awkward spots postflop - one call means you c-bet 250 or so and then you've got 1/3 of your stack in the middle, out of position. More callers, more trouble, so you'll have to check fold a lot. |

while it might be +cEV to raise TT ,JJ ,AQ+ , i don't know if it's +$EV in STT and i wouldn't want to put so many chips in the pot this early. just my 2 cents but as stated, i'm a nit OOP and early in STT. |

But your question doesn't even relate to the way you played the hand. This looks an awful lot like free poker. |

your range may be better, I'd have a really hard time checking JJ/AK though.. |
