Hero gets 6 4 (OTB)

Everyone at table limps $2
$20 in the pot.

Flop = 7 9 5 spades
V1 bets $17

I had 8 outs for straight (8s or 3s)
Rule of 2/4 = 16% to hit straight on next card.
I was getting about 2:1 or 33%
Plus, there was a flush possibility on the board.

Hero folds. Right logic?

Yup, 2:1 is nowhere close to play an open ender. If it's 3:1 I might sometimes make a call considering the implied odds. It doesn't look like anyone would play a flush that way, more like a set or a two pair trying to protect his hand from possible straights and the fourth flush card. If someone else behind you calls though, I would consider folding. If the SB bets and you're next to act, fold.

you have to also look at the implied odds, if villain is sitting on a deep stack and you're confident you can stack him off if you turn a 3 or and 8 and he holds a hand like AA or KK you might strongly consider calling, also just noticed that the flop was single suited so the problem is that even if you make your hand you still can't really be sure that you have the best hand so i think folding is 110% the correct play.

Sucker drawing to the second hand. You always want to be drawing to the nuts with these calls.

Simply applying the rule of 2/4 doesn't factor in how many of your outs are and aren't clean. You might want to acquaint yourself with the concept of discounted or partial outs.
