| The Caro book is fairly old, but the info in it is just as valid today as when it was written. It's not 5-card draw based either, he covers quite a few different games & most of the info is game independent. Mostly sub-concious psychological stuff. Caro's been studying the game a long time & from what I've seen in my live play he's pretty accurate. I have heard that the book by Joe Navarro is good as well but haven't read that one. |

Caro's book covers all games - yes, there's some stuff that's specific to draw poker, but there's other stuff (staring at the board, for example) that's specific to hold 'em games and some that's specific to stud, as well as the general advice. My only issue was that the photos are all old, black and white, kinda small, and (obviously) still. Not the ideal medium for the discussion, unfortunately. So it's not always easy to see the point he's getting at. There's still a lot of solid gold material in there though and even if all you do is absorb the 20-odd laws of tells that he has, you'll be better equipped to play live games. |

| re: Pokerbooks of tells? Yeah, I agree that the pics could deffinately stand to be updated. I particularly liked the last section where he runs you through a quiz based on photos of players to see how much you've retained. The photos tend to be overexagerated a bit compared to what you'll actually see people do, but I think that was on purpose to make you very aware of things to watch for. Overall, I was able to put a lot of the stuff into play at the first live game I played after reading it. |
