| Poker is this play justified? Your Open QuestionShow me another » Poker is this move justified? So i was in the cut of with qj suited and the big stack ( who has been opening a kit from middle position HOWEVER nobody ever got to show down with him so I wasent SURE if he was getting hands or getting very lucky...) now he raises from the high jack to 2.5 x the big blind. I know from history that he doesn't necisarily have to have a big hand when he makes this small raise pre flop because I reraised with good hands before when he raised this much and he folded..) anyway I take a long think and because I feel hex just trying to steak the blinds I decide to go all in for 20 big blinds. Now there are pros and cons to my plays. The pros being I don't believe he has a good hand and I feel if i get called I'm probably not in that bad a shape unless he has jj qq aj or aq which is unlikely. The cons r I've gone all in quite alot but at the same time I've never got called when I've done this.. He instant calls me here with 1010. Just for the record I paired my queen on the flop and all ends well.. Until he hits his 10 on the river... Anyway do you guys think my play was ok? I feel my fold equity was ok because we were very close to money.. |

| Ok high stack guy has 40k. He's an aggressive pre flop opponent in middle position ( or so it seems as he's raised ALOT in this position however nobody ever gets to showdown with hi. So nobody knows if he's aggressive or if he's getting very lucky) blinds are 200/400 50 ante. He raises from the high jack to 1000 with 1010. I think he's on a move. Now I have been quite aggressive pre flop but always selective and I've gone all in about 5 times and I've never been called pre flop. I'm in the cut off with qj suited. I think he's either on a move or possibly an average starting hand because last time when he raised 2.5 times the BB I 3 bet shoved and he instant mucked. I have 8k. I decide to grow some balls and go with my heart going all in for 8k. Now I do this for these reason. Firstly I think I have the best hand as he raises ALOT for middle position and tends to take the blinds that way. Secondly if I am beat most hands he would call me with I am nit that bad a shape unless I got very unlucky and he had aj aq jj or qq, but like I said this is unlikely. The cons are that he can afford a call since it's only for 1/5 of his stack and he's getting neally ok odds he has to call 7k to win 10k. So what do u think of my play? |

| re: Poker is this play justified? it was a coin flip bro and the big stack always win this coin flips for some reason online plus this is the proplem with agressive players bro you have to make the hero call and i have to call agressive player with middel pair 90 % of the time the better move was if he is ine the big blinds you should only call he rasies you call you flop your Q you go all in he fold then he wouldnt see the turn and river if he is smart person not a maniac |

Your image may not be so different. Villain is also probably tired of folding when player to his immediate left shoves on him. You should realize that you will probably be called here. The big stack is not the one you want to be picking on near the bubble. Quote:
You're forgetting AA, KK, AK, KQss, maybe even KJss, KTss, K9ss, given the history. He's also going to snap call with 88, 99, TT. QJ is one of my least favourite hands because it is so easily dominated by hands that are likely to call you. I think that I'd rather have 78ss. In your best case scenario, you are only flipping with the Villain. The Villain has only raised 2.5 BBs here. It doesn't look as if he has a garbage hand and is trying to use his stack to bully people out of the pot. I think you should fold and wait for a better spot, but if you really like your hand, you could call and play the Villain in position. |

| If I read correctly 200/400/50a at a 9 handed table = 1050 pre-flop + 1000(2.5bb open). If this is correct villain needs to fold 68% of the time to make play profitable. You also mentioned you shoved pre several times over recent history. This makes move even more marginal seeing you may get looked up by better more often. I also wouldn't take shots vs. Big stk with a 20BB shoves with hands like QJs. There are also players left to act so this complicates situation even more. Too many things have to go right for you in this situation. IMO fold and wait for better spot. Also don't flat call pre with your stk size like someone else mentioned. |

Does this take fold equity into consideration? |
