Poker Books: Which one(s) for me??

I am looking for some suggestions and opinions about Poker Books. Books you have read and would recommend and which area they apply to (nl, blind size, ring, SNG, STT, MTT etc.) I am mainly interested in playing nl HE, I like all HE games, SNGs and Ring the best, but I like MTTs too. My stakes are micro so far, .2-.5, .5-.10, mainly the former (took an trip into .10-.25, man were they happy to see me...lol) Thanks in advance for any tips.

For sng- Sng strategy by Moshman.
For mtt- Harington on Holdem.
For ring- Ryan Fees free ebook(search here or on google, im to lazy to do it for u. PNLH,NLTP.

Also, if you haven't read a NLHE book before, consider reading Phil Gordon's Little Green Book for one to start out with.

Others to consider for Tournament play (imo.... & ahem... my opinion is 'the' opinion.. imo, lol).
Kill Everyone! (there's also a newer version of this with a supplement by Elky)
Winning Poker Tournaments - One Hand At A Time (Jon Turner, Jon VanFleet, Eric Lynch - - PearlJammer, Apestyles, Rizen, put together by Matthew Hilger). This is the best NLHE MTT book on the market by far (imo). It is much more geared towards high buyin MTT play & not really suitable for micro limits at all. It's great to help develop one's thinking processes for playing the game.

There's also ALL kinds of excellent articles out there online with invaluable info.
Another suggestion, try going to your local library to see if you can order up the books thru an inter-library book loan. Then, if you really like it you can purchase it (my guess, you'll end up buying the HOH books).

Gordon's Little Green Book is an amazing beginner's poker book. I've learned a lot from reading it.. then later on you can move to Harrington's if you play tournaments frequently as well

All poker reading should begin with The Theory of Poker by slansky. This is the foundation book. You will be building on sand if you do not read study and understand this book.

Ken Warren teaches Hold-em is a good book for starting out also as it has specific "Homework" modules designed to get you to practice certain concepts that are intrinsic to poker.

I would have to say there are many, many good hold'em books. I recently read Gus Hansen's book on every hand revealed. It opened my eyes to a few new ideas. Already read through everything our little library has. I would encourage you to look at books that explore poker outside of NL Hold'em. There are some good reads on limit hold'em and a few books that can help with omaha as well. Those games are fun to mix it up with and help you build a more flexible game. Of course you can start with hold'em books. Good luck.

I agree with all of the above, Harrington on Holdem is a really good book for beginners

If you are looking to go MTT/SNG route you should be able to do really well at the micro stakes after reading and getting some experience:

Sit 'n Go Strategy by Collin Moshman
Harrington on Hold'em Vol 1

One book I found very helpful as a beginner was "Texas Holdem Odds and Probabilities" by Matthew Hilger. It focuses more on limit holdem but also talks about no-limit holdem. It also has some hands examples/situations that help you get to thinking.

I've read and reread Harrington's first two books and I still find useful info.
It's a good guide for mtt,stt,ring.

For a general tournament book and a good way to get in the mind of a player is Gus Hansen's Every Hand Revealed, I enjoyed reading it, wasn't as some poker books.

Harringtons books are great, but be prepared for some long reads and actual study of what you are reading. This is training, not a novel.
