| Need to evaluate stack sizes in relation to the blinds, along with types of players (& their stack sizes) on your left & the general dynamic of the table. 'Typically' here with 18bb I'd be tightening my range & I'm in early position so I'd just fold. |

| re: playing too tight? poker I don't really know about folding here, flat calling is alright but you have to be willing to fold to a raise. I would call for the simple fact of broadway, and this coming from a player who plays tight 85% of the time. |

| Sorry, I have been drinking and after doing some calculations, I have to admit, that this is a fold pre-flop. You have an "M" of just a little over 7 which dictates this is a push/fold position. But with that "M" factor I'm usually pushing this, but that's just my opinion. Why am I pushing this? you may ask. It's connected broadway. Sorry if I contradict myself but I am leaning towards a push here considering my stack size and that no-one has called or raised before me. | re: playing too tight? poker ok cool im doin the right thing. also what if you were one away from being in the bubble and your raised all in by the other guy wit the same stack size as you would you call this? i mean he raised all on my button like twice. and this seem like the best hand ive had for awhile. well it was the best hand i had til i lost. i felt like i shoulda took a gamble and called this hand cuz i ended up losin anywys everyone was just foldin cuz the blinds were so high Dealer: Seat 4 Seat 2: ahulius (60,779 in chips) Seat 3: siawaynam (97,271 in chips) Seat 4: SirStoney (36,796 in chips) Seat 5: brettv (146,388 in chips) Seat 6: McDMC80 (54,646 in chips) Seat 8: EdHaskell (36,300 in chips) Seat 9: rakingchips (99,184 in chips) Seat 10: aOSIDDFG (34,136 in chips) ahulius: posts ante of 500 siawaynam: posts ante of 500 SirStoney: posts ante of 500 brettv: posts ante of 500 McDMC80: posts ante of 500 EdHaskell: posts ante of 500 rakingchips: posts ante of 500 aOSIDDFG: posts ante of 500 brettv: posts small blind 2,500 McDMC80: posts big blind 5,000 Dealt to SirStoney [Ad,6d] EdHaskell: folds rakingchips: folds aOSIDDFG: is all in 33,636 ahulius: folds siawaynam: folds SirStoney: folds brettv: folds McDMC80: folds McDMC80: mucks aOSIDDFG: returns uncalled bet 28,636 ***SHOW DOWN*** aOSIDDFG: mucks aOSIDDFG wins 16,500 |

| Both easy folds. Loosening up your game is not merely about playing more hands but doing so effectively, which tens to means being more aggressive. Limping QJo in EP is clearly not aggressive. It's loose passive. As for the second hand, what do you think his range is? A6s is a hand that's probably a bit ahead of a small part of his range, and well behind the rest. |

| Kx is in the optimistic part of his range, the part you're ahead of. But you can't be very far ahead, no matter what the x is. Otoh, if he has a pair, you have three outs most of the time. If he has an A, you're dominated most of the time. And there are more players still to act, any of whom could have been dealt a real hand. Easy fold. |

His action at such an early position makes it a little less likely he is just making a move for blinds (even though I have done it). If everyone had folded to you you would have been fine to shove yourself, but to call - I don't think so. It's a fold. |

(try multitabling if your bored) and yeah it is a fold in EP with 17 bbs.. pretty standard. if your at a table that's consistently limping in like that then your raise is gonna get called anyway, even if that's the right play.. tighten up and open raise for a bit more maybe? I dunno if this is right but I tend to make my raise size 3/4x in a tourney (instead of 2.5x) to set up the stack sizes a bit better for a flop bet/jam and/or a turn jam.. instead of having to awkwardly over jam flops etc :/ |
