| New to poker totally? Tight and aggressive. At some point once your comfortable with the game and learn a bit more I would change over to LAG for a bit if your BR will allow it as LAG will have more/bigger swings than TAG. The reason to go LAG for a bit later on is to get more post flop experience. That is one thing some people do not realize about the loose "donks" they encounter and wonder how they loose to them so much at showdown, they have TONS of post flop experience and that is where they get their edge against the TAG players that start off with much better hands. That is also more of a reason you need better notes on how a LAG player plays his hands, so you know when they have you beat, and when they don't since you will be playing them more often post flop than you will TAG players. |

| dont be a certain style ever heard the pro's say gotta be fluid that is never been more true as it is in poker bottom line just play opposite of your table if they are all loose player then you play tight, if their tight you play loose the most profitable way to play is opposite of the table |

If table image is something you just can't let go then focus on how the table percieves you. If you've been getting bad cards and folding a lot then you look tight. So bluff a little more, steal a little more. If you've been getting good cards and winning a lot of pots without showdown then someone is due to look you up. You look loose so bluff less, semi-bluff less, and value bet more. |

| re: Playing agresive vs. playing tight? poker I would say play tighter up until you get comfortable playing online, then from there vary your play depending on how your opponets are playing. If you do happen to get a certain table image take advantage of it. |

| i like to play agressive ,real agressive some people call it donky but i dont i call it winning , im not saying go all in because thats wat you dont do unless you have a great hand ,but betting and betting keeps them thinking some hands are crap some hands are winning hands but never show them allways muck they should know your a loaded gun lol waitn to shoot ,play like this and see how you do ,it works for me every time you cannot change the cards your delt just the way you play them RANDY PAUSCH |

| poker is really great, good to see you have the bug, i find that people that play agresive do good sometimes until they get a little excited about all their wins, and end up going down bigtime because their money gets the better of them. ( the power of money eh) i prefer to just wait and play my haands as they are myself. (not get to cocky about it) cause you never know what hand is around the corner sometimes. but that is just me, everyone is a little different. |

This is great advice....I am still learning but this is sooo true....I bluff a bit when Ive folded a lot and ppl seem to respect it....when Ive been in a lot of pots and winning....I tend to be more skeptical on bluffing instead waiting to really catch someone being desperate or just gambling...GL... |

At one point when I did not have enough BR to gamble I just played extra tight and accepted the wins with the losses....of course I did better this way and built up my BR a bit... But after seeing more hands and gaining experience...I still have the same starting thought process...but I just have a better feel as to when to take risks and gamble a bit....aka...take advantage of the situations that present themselves.... I primarily play $3 dollar MTT tourneys on PS.... Sometimes after a win or 2...I will take a big gamble early in a tourney just to see how it works out....and when it does not...I play the next tourney pretty tight keeping in mind that those risks are not worth it and its just better to play my game... Just a bit of an insight of a new player who is learning a lot and keeping his head well above the water... Poker is fun and once you get the hang of the important aspects and use bankroll mgmt...u can be a profitable player....Id just say try to build slowly and take it from there.... |

| I think the best way to play is opposite what the table is playing, play tight against aggressive opponents, and play aggressive towards tighter ones. Also, you should be aware of the image you're sending towards your opponents and play opposite what you think your opponents think you are. |

| Some good advice on here and some I don't agree with at all. If you're worrying about sending a certain image to other players all the time then experienced ones will pick up on you fast, no matter if it's tight or aggressive. More importantly you won't be putting as much thought into the hand as you should. Forget about table image and worry about playing good poker. Do mix up your game when it feels right to keep your opponents off balance. |

| Generally speaking, your playing style should be table dependent, and the way your opponents play, reacting to certain styles should have a huge impact on how you should play. It's all about using a style that will yield the greatest profitability. At lower stakes though, playing a tight-aggressive, ABC game will make you a consistent winner. |
