Play money can make some money

On Fulltilt there is a play money tourney that pays out cash. It takes 500k to enter. So for those players with lots of play chips on Fulltilt this is a great way to start a bankroll. It has a lower Max entry than the freerolls and it is a good learning tool for anyone interested in MTT's. The tourney id for today is 57572061.

I have played in a few of these and received $2 about 3 times. It is a good way to build a bankroll if you have lots of play money. OH!!, but it is so hard to let that play money go when you have worked so hard for it. Another nice thing is most of the players in that tourney are serious, but still have fun. Gl at the tables.

Is this once a week, do you know? I'd heard about it but hadn't found one before.

They should have a few more tourneys like this but for less chips. Still a great idea though.

Good to know but I'm still far from that figure in play money. If I were to apply BRM to the play money account (which I do) I'd need $6 million or so to enter it and I'm only at 300K.

Does anyone know if anything like this exists on PokerStars? It seems like a great way for the sites to get the good players money who can then generate rake!

This tourney is really good way to get easy $2. There are usually like 40 players nowdays. Used to be less when I had my play chip emperium (like 16M in play chips and that was huge amount that time) I also finished couple times to money but playing with play money started to be annoying so atm I have 0 play chips. GL to all who r going to make money this way, its tight game but don't just wait for pkt rockets lol.

you have to be a constant "play money" player,in order to register for one of this tournements..l'm not sure if it's worth it..

How much does it pay out?

I did it once before and placed 3rd.Yes it is a pain to get that many play chips but an easy cash in the tourny.

That is a great tourney. And it is everyday.
One time i won this tourney.
To build a bankroll is very good.

Back in the day, I had 5 million play chips but eventually lost em all, and this is before this tourny existed

It really is a quick way to make $2 and there were only about 44 players last night.
The level of play is also quite enjoyable because of the 500k buy in.
The downside is that it is early in the morning in my time zone

This was an excellent post. I have around 50,000 chips...did not mess with the chips once I found out about all the free rolls. Makes me want to get back into those 2,000 play chip 90per sit-n-gos.

I also found that if you play the Ferguson challenge to get the $1 coupon.
That tourney pays decent throughout the top 100. The Satellite is every night @ 11 for you night owls. Top 100 get the coupon which is easy enough. The tournament pays around $85 to first, and deep enough to take a bad beat late and get some form of payment.

Does any other sites provide play chip tourneys that can turn into cash?

It strikes me that spending whatever amount of time to get 500k play chips and then having to cash in a tournament to get $2 isn't likely to work out to much in terms of per hour winnings.

well there are website out there that are willing to give 10 dollars for 500k play money chips on star, but i dono about fulltilt, kinda a good price if u ask me, 20milworth can get u 200bucks easily, ill try to find the site and let u know.

I've seen those 500k tournaments on Full Tilt, but man it's pretty difficult to get that many play chips. So much donkey play it's mainly luck. It's easier to play in the private freeroll tournaments.

go to starschips.com they pay 10$ per mil i did this about a year ago built a br up to about 70$ easy way to get a br started. i am trying for 5 mil now am at 2.9 mil little more to go

True, I don't know if the time it takes to earn 20 million chips would be worth the 200 dollars.... plus the gameplay between play money and real money is so different that I sometimes have issues switching between the two, people have to be so much more aggressive in play money tourneys.

just sell a mil to get started thats what i did and build from that the 1$ stt are very loose just play top hands and you will cash in them

The pokerstar chips are worth far more than the full tilt chips. I think this is because you can exchange them easily. I've never heard of $10 per 500K chips. If you have that web site it would really be useful. Absolute also has tried some million chip buy in tourneys with some success. Also, I have found that in some of the 100K play chip games, the players are just as serious about their play chips as in the $1-3 cash buy in games.

No doubt, if you are playing $5 to $1000 buy-ins the caliber of player is much higher. Note: most open freerolls are equivelent to a 1c to 20c buy in and that is where you find the losest craziest players.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, earning 500,000 play chips doesn't sound very easy. I think that if you earn that many you should stay at playing the play money ring games because otherwise your throwing loads of hard work away. Looking at that screen capture, 1800 players max with top 18 payout? Doesn't sound to appealing.

Id say these games are a very easy way of losing an awful lot of hard earned play money. Also the fact that if you win the $5 that would dissapear in most likely 1 tournament meaning the whole scenario of earning all the money was completely pointless!

I think a much better way to build your roll using play chips is to sell them on one of the many sites that buy them for cash. The going rate is usually around $10 or $11 per million chips. And I've never heard of anyone having a problem using these sites. Yeah, I know some people will say, "oh you didn't really earn that $$ playing poker, to which I ask how else one gets play chips.

Anyhow, back on topic, I think it's great that Full Tilt gives serious play money players an opportunity to earn some real cash to build a roll.

I don't play to earn money, I've sometimes spent 4 hours in a tournament where in the end I just won around a dollar, but it was definitely worth it !

I would definitely play freerolls before I tried getting 500K play chips. The freerolls are simple to enter, and sometimes offer more than these tourneys. Don't waste your time unless you have the chips already.

It took me about a week and a half to build up 100K pl chips at UB, so it would probably take at least a couple more weeks to build up 500K, if I can get lucky, maybe a little less, especially with all the Donk's I'd run into. And usually a $50 freeroll pays $9 for first, so if you dont have a job, have all day to play for play money, to risk it on one tourney...go for it. I'd rather just, restrain from going out one weekend and take the money I would have drank away, and deposit it...but that's just me.
