I still just raise if I have more than 10 bb's left.

An assumption; tourney, not ring,

In ring it is assumed you can rebuy. If this were the last of your roll, well, you shouldn't have been at this table to start with.

So, if no antes, your M would be about 8+, and a shove is a valid option, preferable over any limp. You still have a little time left and personally I generally am inclined to wait a little longer for (very subjective) comfort cards. With your M at 8 u still have the slightest of FE and if you add position, and some weak players to your left you might steal a bit easier. Oddly a big stack to your left that is not a huge stack might be reluctant to double you up, and might act as a weak player would. Most huge stacks will call if their M's are approaching 10x what yours are.

If antes, your M would be about 6+ and if you get in the pot at all, it should be all the way. You pretty much have no real FE.

Bottom line on your question is that yeah, maybe 13 bb's (assume this is big blinds, not BIG BETS {2x big blind}) is a reasonable figure.

Also if you just started playing, you should start out tight.

It didn't seem relevant, it's extremely rare in ring games to drop to 13bb's (even pro shortstackers play at least 20bb's)?

Well i got some news for you, i've been down to 13BB's in rings and made a comeback... Also i still don't reload at the lower limits, since none knows about odds...

BRM for ring games actually dictates that you stop playing at that limit if reloading is a problem. If a player isn't reloading in order to adhere to BRM, the player doesn't understand ring game BRM.

A lot of players find that if they shove in a tourney with 13BBs, as opposed to letting their stack dwindle to teeny and completely unscary, most of the other players at the tourney table will fold, leaving them with the blinds and ante. And the blinds and ante will help them survive a bit longer, during which time they may land a really good hand to play.

Ideally, you wouldn't be down to 13BBs until the blinds are pretty big, and the antes have started. Usually, you are not the only player at the table to have that stack amount. The big stacks will assume that you have waited until you have a premium hand or, at least, a decent PP, and may not have a hand that merits a call, even though they can afford to lose that amount -- if their hand is awful, they may decide not to call. The medium stacks won't want to lose that much -- if they call that raise, it's likely to be a race if you are not already beat. The other small stacks may decide to put off their own shove for another hand. The shove gives a psychological advantage at a certain point in a tourney, like near the bubble. IMO, it's not really about the math -- except the math of how much the other players will have left if they call.

I do not advocate doing this with ATC. Not with 13BB. You have some time. Do it with a hand that feels at least playable.
