There are lots of online schools. They are all different and I am not sure which is best. I would say there are good and bad in all of them.

re: Online Poker Schools

I suggest you check out the schools to see which ones put more emphasis one the games and levels you intend to play. For instance, if you're goinf to enter low-stakes tournaments, one that's heavy on cash game content or higher stakes tournament content probably won't be the best fit for you.

I think I'd like to have half of Cada's MTT skills....he's a reg. online in the bigger buyin MTT's and is up over $450K! I've got a hunch that he might know something about this game, lol.

Best poker school.... difficult to say as there are a handful of very good ones, but not all cater to the beginner (as you've outlined you're looking for in a site). My personal opinion.... read a few of the best books to get a good grounding in the game, play a bunch at micro limits (or whatever your poker bankroll can afford)... then once you've got this time in, then join up to a poker training site so that you can get the most out of it.

There are also different options that the different sites offer. Some have a ton of training videos with many more being produced all the time, others have coaching offers included as part of the subscription, others are more specific to either Tournament play or Cash Game play. I'd suggest researching a bunch of them and also to check out the free trials that some of them will give you.

There is one site that's completely free and starts you off at the basics but can't go into the details here because that site makes it's $'s via sign-up links.
I've got a link to a page that gives reviews on a bunch of the sites. I'll try to find it and then will pass it along to you.

There's also the Fulltilt Poker Academy which is free (but not sure how good it is as I only checked it out when they first started it, but have heard a bunch of players say it was pretty decent.... especially with it being free and offers up some bonuses I believe).

I think if you just type some stuff into Google you'll find all kinds of stuff (ie. reviews on the different training sites, and which ones offer up free trials).

DC is the best value, imo. they have series that take you from beginner to Hi stakes and you are able to DL the vids so you can watch them easily multiple time and allows you to dl series for the future.

The others are good too, I have memebership at most. But the value is better at DC

Full Tilt academy isn't bad. I've been working on that for awhile. Nice bite sized nuggets of information. Great way to learn and/or refresh the fundamentals of poker.

as far as schools, there are tons out there, and you will have to do some research to find what you are looking for depending on what type of game you play (mtt, stt, ring). as far as reading material, i read everything by mike caro like it is gospel, and it has single handedly helped me understand different aspects of the game better than any book that i have read. he has a couple book of his own, publishes regular articles, has a website, and has a school. also, if you are looking to learn beginning and advanced poker plays, cardschat is an excellent place to be. there are a lot of highly skilled players at various game types eager to help others learn. good luck.

You must have misunderstood something somewhere. I've been a VT member for a while now and small ball is considered the advanced concept. Small ball does not have you raising 5x...more like 2.5-3x. The whole Idea behind beginners raising 5x the BB, is because their post flop play is usually not as good, so you don't want to be playing against alot of opponents, which raising 2.5 can sometimes allow to happen. Poker VT is more about MTT's and Sit and Go's, but they do have some cashgame stuff too

I think deucescracked is a site you might check out if your looking to buy it. Stoxpoker is also good for beginners and if you earn a certain amount of FTPs it's free if you sign up at trulyfreepokertraining. Both are very good but if I had to pick I'd go with deucescracked.

I actually haven't heard any great reviews about Daniel's site but I believe it does cater to beginners.
For MTT play (& SNG) PokerXfactor is ranked as one of the best.

I still say though to get the most out of something like that it'd be best to just read a few of the poker books that'll give you a foundation to work from (ie. Phil Gordon's Little Green Book, & then Harrington On Holdem Vol.1&2 ..... they're all well-written, easy reads and cover the basics for NLHE tournament play).

This ^ is very helpful... tks!
I think I mentioned above, I've only checked out Fulltilt Academy the first week they had it up & running and found it to be real basic stuff and have often wondered if the content on there now is decent or not and have heard mixed reviews (one MTT player I know was actually recommending it and I respect the guy's play... he's played 1500+ mtt's with ROI+50%, up around $10k, mostly low buyin rebuys but also FTOPS Series, $750k etc.,... seems odd that he'd give the Academy a thumbs up and actually said he picked up alot of decent stuff from there.... maybe he was lying... I wouldn't put it past him, lol).

I'm not being sarcastic by thanking you for this post. I'm an avid training vid. viewer and read tons of stuff (articles, HH's, books, etc.) regularly. I will no longer think that I might be missing out on something by not checking out the Academy stuff (you saved me some time, lol).

Full tilts is ok. It does have a 1000 freeroll for top scores on its sit in learn. You can do the challages to work on improveing your game. The challeges are for real money games but you can still try to do them in freerolls and see how it works for you. The site has lessons on tons of diffrent topics. Pros giving you their tips and tricks. It does not hurt to check it out

I think you can learn by reading experiences and success stories from forums like this, reading articles and blogs or even books which you can find online for free. Always asking your questions and learn from professionals.
