Omaha books hi/low

I haven't played Omaha for years until last night. A local casino is doing a serious all this month on learning limit Omaha Hi/low. The wait list was really long for hold'em and a friend convinced me to play. The game was full of new players and i made a killing but i think i missed a lot of opportunities because i really don't understand Omaha Hi/low. I want to try to focus on Omaha and need to learn before Saturday. The next fish training. Drunk fish learning a new game sounds like a very profitable game.
I have done several searches and think Jeff Hwang's books would be good but do any focus on hi/low?

The Pot-Limit Omaha Book - Transitioning from NLHE to PLO. I know this is expensive. Anyone read it and is it worth the money?

Any other help would be greatly appreciated.

Hwang's books are good, the first one more than the second, although it does mostly focus on PLO not O8.

O8, PLO8, LO8 etc.

I've never read any strictly O8 books, I learned the painful way.

The book by Dan Deppen is a must have.

I am not going to mention the names of other sites on this post but there are a lot of sites explaining Omaha 8. Most of the strategy sites have more info on Omaha 8 than Omaha High. It sounds like you can employ a conservative strategy and still win easily with the group you are going to play with.

I have found some good info on other sites but i was hoping to get a good book that focuses on O8. If you know of any really good sites please pm me. Thanks

You are right about employing a conservative strategy and winning. Most people at the table didn't even notice i was folding about 90%+ of my hands and when i did play they would stay in until the end.

To give you an idea of how bad it was last night one guy stated he had a full house with no pair on the board. He didn't understand how my flush beat his full house. lol

As mentioned already Hwang's books are good ... first one helped me alot.

Super System 2 has a Mike the Mouth section on O8.

Alan Boston put out an ok one with lots of charts ... really tight nitty advice.

Bob Ciaffone is more tight nitty stuff ...worth reading.

Don't own the Dan Deppen one ... on my wish list.

you should also punch in a bunch of hands on propokertools and look at some basic equity spots, i.e. having a non-counterfeitable nut low draw + flush draw on the turn, etc.

I used to play a lot of PLO8 but all of my LO8 experience come from HORSE tourneys. I'd assume you can be slightly less nitty in your game.

Yes use Hutchinson method for starters and play tite and you will win at a loose table.
Bobby Baldwin chapter in SuperSystem2 on Omaha 8 or Better (same game) is an excellent read by a world champ at PLO8.
Hwang is PLO not 8 so much don't waste money on him.
Stick with good starters and position and play ABC percentages against loose table, you cannot lose unless god hates you
Remember the Platinum Rule also as described by Todd Brunson in same book, is essential in Stud8 and important also in PLO8.

Excellent advice, study percentages and EV same as u would in HE or PLO. And play them.
Most info u need to put together a skill set for yr game w Homer and Barney is available online, I would not rely on any one book. And remember, most PLO8 players new to things have no idea what we are talking about

Yes Hwang is OK but Farha on Omaha is funnier.

Definitive beginner's book for Omaha 8 (limit).

Deppen's book is excellent for PLO8. Make sure you get the 2nd edition. He has a website and you can also buy it on Amazon.

The Stud hi-low section in Zee's book is excellent as well. He's a regular poster in the stud forum at 2+.

I like Hwang a lot and he has a good way of making you think logically about Omaha hands but I feel he's probably too nitty about hand structures (which are obviously important) and his HH analysis (see hand exercises in book 2) is odd to say the least.

Only proplem with most of the books mentioned is that they are either for PLO (Hwang) or they are for LO8 and not PLO8. If you want to learn split there really is no reason to read PLO books. Hwang does touch on PLO8 in one chapter.

I feel you can learn about O8 concepts in the limit books, you will then have to learn how to apply those concepts to PL and HL games.

I am no expert but I play the game a lot and can help if you have any questions.

I am actually looking for limit because of local laws and max betting regulations. I am planning on posting some hand histories so any advice would be great.

I think O8 will be a profitable game while they are teaching these classes and even after they are over. The pots seems to get several multiway action and keep more people in until the very end. I am just surprised on how many people will keep raising with the non nut flush or the idiot end of a straight.

Those people are the ones you want at your table all the time. Buy them a drink and make them feel loved.

Ray Zee has one, but its not great. The stud 8 section is fairly good though.
