This forum imo. I think that this begginer's learner's forum is best. Read as many threads as you can. As far as books go, there are plenty depending oin which way you want to go. Cash game play, most popular is Harrington on Holdem Tournies, I'd say Negreanu's last two books but his newest strategy is more for advanced players.

Dude, if you look at the top right hand corner there's this tab called poker strategies and the articles there are great! About freeroll strategy.. well, alot people are looser. You should tighten up and only get involved with premier hands. (AA,AK,KK) In fact, there's an article in that tab about freerolls if I'm not mistaken.

Well a book that you have to read if you want to be a pro is the Super System by Doyle Brundson. Some people would say that its a bit outdated, but it covers a lot of the fundamentals and also a lot of advance points. Other than that there is the book of Daniel Negranu and there are a lot of others, but those are some of the most known books for texas holdem. But I consider the most important thing to be expirience, since thats what gives you most of your knowledge, plus you can always talk to the people on the table about the different techniques.

re: New To Texas Hold Em poker Read all the strategy articles provided by this forum and also read the posts provided by members in various threads. Learn the differences in the games (cash games, sit n gos, tournaments, satellites). Wikipedia also contains a lot of information on each game. For books, Mike Caro and Dan Harrington have excellent reviews. Don't know if it's still available but a Poker CD endorsed by T.J. Cloutier contains a lot of tips, scenarios, and tests for all levels of players.

for books i'd recommend phil gordon's little green book. concepts are simple and necessary. I also recommend gus hansens: every hand revealed. Its basically him analyzing a ton of hands he played in the aussie millions tournament that he won. Harrington on holdem is also nice. Remember, don't just read books by the same author/players read a variety of them to get different perspectives etc.
