Multi - tabling ST SNG's

I typically play STT and I am planning on starting to play multiple tables at once. I am limited by BR managemnt to low stakes <$5 buyins for now.

My question is should I stagger my start times and if so, by how much? I am thinking that early on doesn't matter, but as the action speeds up I may not want to be in heads-up on more than one at a time.

My experience with this is that staggering the tables will not guarantee that you are not heads up at the same time anyways. Some single table tournaments that I have been in have been down to 3 or 4 players in only 5 mins, where others have taken over an hour. If you are trying to stagger them to avoid playing heads up or be down the the final few on multiple tables at once, you will probably find it will work the opposite to that.

Just start off by playing 2 tables then add a table every day or every other day, and then find out what you like as far as staggering or not, a lot of people do it and a lot of people don't it's really a personal preference, the importance is just not jumping up to more tables than you can handle too fast.

I would suggest:
Starting out slow.
Not Staggering times.
Two tables.
Three.
Four.

Work your way up and don't rush it.
If you stager table start times it may become more difficult to shift gears from one stage of a tournament to another.

Count yourself blessed if you end up being Heads up on 4 tables at time.

really good advice!! Its true I wouldn't worry about the being heads up on 4 tables at the same time! If you get to that point in SNG's that often I would consider moving up to a higher buyin SNG rather than multitabling. If you can beat a lower limit that consistantly you should be fairly decent at playing one limit higher!

I use the freerolls to see if I can add another table and play it well. So far I can handle 3 tables, I tried to add a freeroll as a 4th table and ended up confused on all 4!!! Oh well. Maybe a few weeks at 3 tables before I try to add another one.

multi tabling is very fun...i would start slow and not do a billion tables at once.

its good if you multi table on full tilt because they have new synchronized breaks for mtts that all happen 55 minutes after the hour.

Experiment with playing staggered and not staggered. Some people prefer one, others prefer the other, there isn't really a 'right' way to multitable. Playing continuous sets (i.e. loading up a bunch of SNGs then firing up a new one whenever you bust in one) allows you to get more games in a set time period than say playing 10 SNGs to completion then firing up 10 more, so I suppose it's more profitable all other things being equal, but some people (like me) prefer having blind levels relatively in sync with each other, and fewer tables running in the SNG 'endgame', when decisions often become more awkward and always more important.

My suggestion is to NOT stagger the starting times much.

My logic is that you are adding extra mental bookkeeping in trying to remember how you are playing each particular table. You don't play early stages like you play late stages, and one slip up will cause you grief.

it can be done... at single table sngs i wait until i double up then open up another one... MTT i dont play two at once too much money on the line have to really focus and know whats going on at your table

This is a lot of good feedback. What I find most interesting is how varied the reasoning is behind staggering or not staggering.

What I'm getting from this the most is to get my butt in the games, experiment a little, and figure out what fits my style the most.

Before you start playing multiple tournaments you might want to play in multiple ring games first. They are generally easier to play. You can get to know the other players in a ring game and know their style. In tournaments players are constantly being moved so you need to pay attention to more different people. Which ever way you go you need to keep your concentration at all times!

I use to 12 table $5.50 sngs and I can tell you the more tables you add,the more that it is necessary to keep the start times the same.At 12 tables I was making a decision very fast (a few seconds),and to try to factor in being at different aggression levels on different tables would be difficult.
I experimented with different start times but around 6 tables it became necessary to start them similtanious to limit how many variables I had to consider.
Heads up at even 6 tables is not really that hard once you have experiance at it.As othes have said build up 1 table at a time.
I think it is alot easier if you can spread your tables out where you can see them all,instead of stacking them.I got a lot better feel for each table this way.
