Middle Pair - Check/Fold? I've ran into this situation a lot and I need help with it. I often run into a middle pair on the Flop. This usually happen when I'm in the BB and everyone checks to me. I would have Q8 offsuit and the Flop is 48A. I check hoping to see a free card, but someone always bet. I'm playing Fixed-Limit so it's just a small bet that I have to call to see the Turn. I often "Fold" here because I don't hit my 5 outs often enough. But I have notice some opponents play this way and suckout on my TPTK. What do you guys think? Should I call the Small Bet to see the Turn card just incase I hit 2 Pairs or Trips? Is this good play or should I just Check/Fold my Middle Pair and save my money to strike in another hand?

sounds like if it s a small bet and you have a pair you should call cause you are getting the correct odds. In Limit or FL, people fold their low pairs or guts shots to often. You are probably getting the odds to suck out on someone in low stake FL games especially if it is a multi way pot. I don't play games like this much but i will not fold a pair unless there is something crazy on the board like 4 card flush or straight and i have no peace of it... odds say call

re: Middle Pair - Check/Fold? poker Calling OOP when you have only five outs to make two pair or better is generally going to be unprofitable. However, this doesn't mean you should always check-fold. It's opponent-dependent. What kinds of hands does the limper tend to limp? Different people have different limping ranges / tendencies. 48A is a better flop for you against a person who tends to limp pairs and suited connectors than one who likes to limp weak A hands. Also, what's the person's c-bet tendency when checked to? Some people c-bet a lot, while others seldom do so if they've missed. Others will usually fire on barrel but seldom two. You don't necessarily want to take the same approach against such different players.
