| MATelford Hello and welcome to my thread. This is the thread that introduces new players and beginner players, to a great and very versatile strategy basis that most players ignore and never get too far. Not to the top anyway. Basically the birth of this thread initiated when I posted several times on the very intersting "Micro Stakes Thread". I posted talking about good, real proper poker and was hit with replies that everyones uses computer software to mislead themselves and play terrible poker that we say everyday at the microstakes tables. I play poker the same at any level. Any good player does! You cant adjust your game to meet stake levels. That is just stupid and I dont actually understand how they think its beneficial. From this point on I will answer any questions that new players or beginners or even an advanced player who really wants my opinion, want to throw at me. Thankyou, Yours Faithfully, MATelford |

| The fact of this matter is. That most people on 10NL dont understand the moves your making by being more aggressive at a microstakes tables. Thus the result of playing differently is futile. Playing people at the table comes in when you need to go into the tank. Not when your preflop. It is because people will raise with a hand the same amount everytime and you have no possible way of actually 100% putting your opponent on his two whole cards, in theory. This is what poker is about. Theory, intuition and skill are a few of the factors involved with good poker in motion. |

People come on here and say I wanna be this or I wanna be that. You should already be that. Your game should consist of the fact that if they are running over you fight back or if they are too tight bet more. im saying the basis and structure should always be the same. |

| Would condensing the hand chart to 77+ AQ+ etc. be using internet terms? Why you hatin on JQs? You recommend limping 77+ on the button or just an oversight? Wait, is this your opening raise range? Last edited by D'wilius : 10th February 2009 at 8:37 PM. |

No one is saying in that other thread that you don't always take into account your opponents, you do. What they are saying is that often especially at the micro limits players are so bad than you don't ever need to change your play to exploit them. Some are good enough and need to be identified. The point is trying to identify those villians and those spots. That is why you will see us post questions about 3bet% or vpip, or steal%. You don't need to be a very good player to beat 5nl, I am living proof of that. We are in that thread working out how to be better. Also in regard to already being able to switch gears between aggressive and passive and loose or tight we are all learning that. that is again the point. It is a learning thread, not a "I am already the bomb beatng 1Knl for 5.5BB/100 thread". As usual I could be way off and you might just be a FRW troll looking for 50 posts to get the password but in case your not...fwiw |

| re: MATelford poker Well to be fair to MATelford he has started his own thread rather than post in another thread where his comments were less well recieved. Lets give him a chance to air what he wants to say... If we disagree lets only post a couple of questions at a time for him to explain. If we hammer him with 20 questions at once then the quality of the answers given are not going to be that great just because of the volume!! OK so MATelford. You say you dont use a HUD for online play. Why not? Do you not feel that it gives you an easier method of identifying player types than simply watching the play? |
