Looking 4 Software to LEARN a Variety of games (stud,O8B,PLO,etc) -what's available? I'd like to get up to speed in a variety of games (on my Vista pc). Does anyone know of any good programs to at least teach me the basics of various stud, O8B, PLO, etc., games? I'd like to learn them before I play mixed games at my friend's house. I'm not interested in playing for money online BUT I am willing to pay for software to help me learn the basics of a variety of games. Thanks Very Much!

No replies? I figured this was the right forum to post this question in. I have a hard time believing that there is no program I can learn 5-card draw, stud, omaha hi/lo, etc, on a pc. When I search on google, all I turn up in online poker sites. What Im' looking for is a progam I can BUY to play on my pc. To ANYONE who can provide helpful suggestions, I am GREATLY appreciative! THANK YOU!

I had a software program for holdem, but it was frustrating to play against pretend players. If you go to a site like Amazon.com, you can search for "poker software" and find lots of programs. I still think that you're better off learning the rules in a forum like this and then applying them to the online sites with real players. But that's just my opinion. Whatever you decide, good luck with learning the games and having a good time! |

re: Looking 4 Software to LEARN a Variety of games (stud,O8B,PLO,etc) -what's available? poker Thanks. Those are good ideas. I travel a lot, and sometimes (often) the internet access simply does not work well (or at all). That's why I'd like a program to play against (just to learn the mechanics of those games).

Id learn 1 at a time, obviously got a game coming up so got learn how to play them but i fear you try learning them all you will end up playing stud instead of razz, youl forget how to play some or youl mix them up and end up playign wrong. I think it is better to elarn 1 at a time until you feel good enough and know it well enough to move on to next game. For example learning stud, then mov eon to stud 8 or lower. they are completely different strategies and can be confusing if just learning basics then playing 8 game tourney. youl end up betting into a 5 card made low when your holding a pir aces etc. Got learn 1 at a time to ensure dont get confused etc. Id recomend super system 1 or 2 or both.
