Left handed Dealers

So I started dealing last week and have wondered that since I am left handed, my burn/pot and muck piles are on opposite sides as usual, but it is also most efficient to deal from right to left. Is there any rule against this? It doesn't change any of the action, players just need to pay attention so they don't misread draws and such. My boss says as long as I am consistent then I am fine, and I make a point to announce it to the table when I sit down. Have only had two people have a problem with it and both of them said "Well if he ever wants to get a job in a casino and take dealing to the next level---" That's when I cut them off and say "Well, I don't. Floor says as long as it's consistent then it's fine."

As long as you don't snatch my hole cards before I fold them, everything is cool.

But really it's probably fair to say that about 15% of the time you'd be better off if someone just took your hole cards away from you.

Um... you've lost me here. I'm right handed but I deal left handed (quirk, who knows - I also eat left handed) and it's never been an issue for anyone AFAIK.

So I'm not sure I follow what you mean about dealing from right to left. Do you mean you're spreading the community cards from right to left, so the river ends up being on the far left instead of the far right?

I've never thought being left or right handed affected where the burn / muck piles and the pot went either. Now that I do think about it, the pot and burn cards are normally on my right and the muck is in the middle right in front of the chip tray - whereabouts are yours ending up?

Where do you deal at? And to answer your question, I don't know about rules but it really wouldn't bother me.

Clarify I deal the community cards to the left, everything else is normal. My pot is to the right with burn cards tucked under to the left and muck pile is on the far left so yes the river is int the far left

I'm a 'within the lines of the rules' kind of person and as edgy about procedures I would almost ask you to change it if you could. But I think you stating right up front is great, then there can be no whining.

However, if you don't want to deal at a casino, etc, who is the 'floor' you are talking about? Underground card room? Dude, LET ME IN!!!

Yet, if you know it's a problem, why don't you change it? If anything, to avoid crybaby schmucks like me!

I don't think it should be a problem, just weird.

I am left handed but deal with my right hand and even if I did do it with my left I would put the community cards the normal way.

You are just weird dude.

OK. Is there a particular reason you're doing that though? I can't see what being left handed has to do with it - like I said above, I deal left handed but my community cards come out the exact same as a right handed dealer's.

As long as everyone knows what's happening I don't see it making a big difference to anything, but at the same time I can't see why it's happening either.

It's easier to center the cards and the turn and river are placed much smoother with very minimal readjustment. Ah well, everyone else will just have to get use to it

Floor=charity room floorman.

re: Left handed Dealers poker

If the floor accepts it it is ok!
But you change the game dramaticaly!
The cards should be dealt from the right to the left.....

Dealing the community cards to the left changes absolutely nothing except that players who don't realize it's happening will confuse two thirds of the flop as the turn and river, and that's their fault.

And I'm not sure what you mean by dealing from right to left, because pretty much nothing should be dealt that way (except the board cards but I doubt that's what you meant because you claim it changes the game)
