***Late October MTT Thread***

Uh-oh - I start playing sng's and we have no October MTT thread?? lol

I am still playing MTT's - but not as many. Mostly because I have been so busy in the afternoon's when I usually play. And with 2 trips planned this month I am not likely to get too many in.

I am actually up for the month so far though from making it itm for small cashes - but nothing big.

I am determine to have 1 more nice cash by the end of the year though!!!

Well, like I said in the SNG thread, I'm just starting getting back into MTTs. I started out not having a real strategy, blanking out in more than half a dozen. I adjusted my strategy, streaked up more than a few ITM and adjusted strategy further, not just to make the money, but in attempts to go much deeper. After attaining a decent chip stack I have missed the money the last 3-4 or so due to being rivered out/raped of most of my stack. I might pull up the hands that crippled or did me in the past few days to start my own conspiracy theory.

I'm pretty sure there's a slim to none possibility of breaking even for the month.

Goals: I hope to read a few books in the coming months and final table.

I think I am going to play a live tournament tomorrow here at the Venetian. It will be my first real live one.

I am still debating it. I really want to play but the timing of it sucks. I have to be somewhere for a few minutes at 11:20. The tournament starts at noon. I would not have time for my baked ziti at the Grand Lux between - a meal that I intend to have today no matter what. The tournament will last about 8 hours so if I do well that means by the time it is over I would be eating very very late ( I am on ET and that is 11pm tto me lol) and wouldn't have any time left in the casino tonight. I need to get up early for my flight.

The other side of the coin is - I do think they have late registration and it is maybe possible I could squeeze a fast lunch in before I register. And - if I do play until 8pm it means I am probably hu for 1st place and could probably get over the fact that my day is almost gone lol.

The baked ziti sounds wonderful and I will have to get some in June.

Playing your 1st live tourney will be really cool. Its what you will still be talking about a week from now, especially if you go deep.

If there were a poll,I vote Live tourney for sure.

Gl and enjoy

I think you might be right. If I don't play it that time would be spent playing a little bit of live poker, slots and Let it Ride. Tournament poker is something I love online and I think it is time I give live play a shot.

Also I am considering playing in a $1500 WSOP event next summer and it really shouldn't be my first live tournament.

Register early, and grab something to eat before hand. You can be late (if you don't mind sitting out). Don't forget they have breaks too. Probably not long enough to get the ziti you want, but like you said, if you last that long, you'll be itm or HU. Go for it Deb.

Came up with a great plan I think. There is a deli that opens for lunch at 10:30am - which is 1:30p to my tummy. So I am going there at 10:30 and getting a grilled cheese sandwich and coming back to my room to eat. Then I can get ready and go down at 11:20 and have time for a short break before noon.

Then later whenever I am done with the tournie I will have my baked ziti meal - if it is 8pm that means I did great in the tournie so who cares lol.

Best of luck in your tourney Debi, very good idea to have at least one under your belt before you play that wsop event.

hitting up a few mtt's this evening, even though i will likely regret it later. 34K GTD on tilt, and the 30K GTD on Stars. Might also try my luck at a few sats to the Irish Winter Poker Festival over on Paddy Power as well.

Had a light lunch and all ready to go. Starts in 11 minutes so I won't even be late.

Starting stack is 7500 - blinds start at 25/50 and go up every 30 minutes. (was $150 entry fee - I know a portion goes to the house)

That's a great structure compared to the dailies I played at MGM (actually it's great period). Lots of time and wiggle room to build your stack. Most of the ones I play, your stack is pretty small in relation to how fast the blinds go up, so it gets down to push-and-pray pretty quickly. I know you'll do great! And if you last until the end, I think a baked ziti is the least of the reward you should have for yourself!

Good luck Deb!

Well I am out now - but I loved it and feel like I played great. I had an above average stack when I went out.

I got JJ pre-flop in the bb. The small blind limped in and I made a large re-raise which he called after thinking a while. The flop came QJ6 with 2 diamonds. I made an even larger bet post flop and again he thought awhile and called. A 10 came on the turn. At this point the only hand that could beat me were QQ, AK and K9. Based on his pre-flop play I did not put him on QQ or AK. He could have limped with K9 of diamonds but I don't see him calling the post flop bet I made. So I bet the turn and shoved the river which was a 7.

He had K9os so hit a gut shot straight on the turn.

He didn't bluff me pre or post flop - I had him beat both times and continued to bet after both times. He was taking time to think cause he didn't have shit and was calling for a lot of chips lol.

He didn't hit his hand until the turn.

Why do you say that? I would have only played it differently if I had a different read on somebody that indicated I should play it differently.

I'm not sure how you would play it differently online?? Sounds like you played it pretty standard, just unlucky. Like you said, it is tough to put him on one of the few hands that could beat you at that point.

also, baked ziti is by farrr my favorite pasta dish. hope it was good.

I think you would have been more aggressive on the flop and gone all-in. Would that have stopped him from calling? Probably not.

Nahh - I would have never gone all in pre-flop online or live. It was not late in the tournament - just over a couple hours into it. That would have been a bit too large of a raise lol.

I think my raise was about 4.5xbb - he should have folded with K9os pre-flop. And post flop when he only had a gut shot straight draw my raise of over 2/3 of the pot should have been a fold for him as well.

You were just clearly unlucky. In my opinion, he had no business being in that hand right from the beginning. I think about other peoples play by wondering what I would do with those cards.
Must say that there is no rush like the first live tourney you play in. Except the rush when you know you have the nutz and someone keeps calling your raises.
Keep pushing for the WSOP next summer, with any luck, I will be there too!

Dont know if my games count as MTT's, but I think so.
My goal: get up to 100% ROI and 100$/day.
Get better at 6-tabling, and try to squeeze in more games each day.
Maybe take a stab at 10+1$ tourneys, but that one is a little scary.
