A-Ko v strange blind raise You are in the hi jack holding AKo and limp, the SB, a tight player raises 3 x BB. It is mid-tournament and this player holds double your stack. Do you fold call or re-raise. Normally you would have raised in the hi-jack and were hoping to call/raise a CO or button steal attempt both folded, a raise from the SB appears to represent strength...

I'd say since he saw you only limp he said "good he has shite and I've been havin for a while and i only need to worry about the big blind that always folds anyway so here we go weeee!" I'd never limp with AKo on the button cuz I usually raise with a wide range there so that would be a 4bb raise at least...in your situation though i'd go all in and pray he folds or calls with bad cards.Otherwise it's yet another coin-flip for a double-up...(You could alternatively call and see if you hit a K or an A on the flop then wait for him to hang himself if he's married to his 99 pp for instance )

re: A-Ko v strange blind raise poker I was in hi jack two off button hoping to trap the cut-off or button, when the SB raised. It had me thinking as all I had was a drawing hand that over carded his probable pair, because of the chip stack situation I folded rather than race. Went deep into the tournament as it happened but those extra chips would have helped as I bubbled the final table.

You didn't include the blinds 100/200 etc. or actual stack sizes to calculate M which is important. That aside you limped in a late position, if the SB is decent and tight he knows you can have almost ATC so I would raise. Calling is weak, you can't fold that would be pathetically weak. Unless you know this guy only raising with QQ, KK, or AA you have good equity. M and more information will make post flop decisions different but I would fire a C-bet on any flop. |

First of all the reason its called the "hi jack" position is your trying to steal the position from button and the cutoff, your "hi jacking" position, if they both fold you now have position on the remaining callers. I look at this as the SB is raising because he sees a couple limpers and he can steal the "dead money" all he really has to worry about is the BB. Now first thing is I wouldn't have limped with AKo.......BUT if I had hoping for a raise then when the SB raises I'm either pushing or reraising an amount that pretty much pot commits me. Second thing had you raised then he reraised you then you can put him on a stronger hand because hes reraising without position. Then you can decide from there to just call and hope for a miracle flop or fold thinking he has AA or KK.
