JTs-87s - range ? me confuzzled

Confuzzled, enlightenment required

Note: I am completely new to poker... At this moment I am wearing the noob crown

I'm currently memorising the tables on pages 108/109 of the Getting Started in Hold'em book, by Ed Miller.

An example: page 108

What are the range of cards in the JTs-87s ?

I am confused because J9s-T8s is included in the table, and I would have thought that would occur within the JTs-87s range of cards, so why repeat it in the table.

Besides this book, I have the Little Green Book (read last week), Miller's Small Stakes Hold'em (will read this after getting a good amount of practice in with what I have learned from the Getting Started book).
Also, Professional No-Limit Hold'Em, No LImit Hold'Em Theory and Practice
and... The Mathematics of Poker (Chen, Ankenman)

Yep, I went OTT, especially for a beginner

Probably T9s, 98s are meant in that range. Just suited connectors between JT and 87.

Yeah that means 87s, 98s, T9s, JTs. These are suited connectors. J9s, T8s are suited gappers. There are also suited double gappers such as 74s, 85s, etc.

Funny why it doesn't make that clear in the book.

I've decided to study Limit Hold'Em for now, as from what I have read it's a good one for the total beginner. I bought all the books without knowing what was what.

I plan to go on to No Limit once my skill/bankroll has improved a hell of a lot. Which, obviously, will be a long time yet.

I've noticed a lot of poker books just assume things after awhile or after they've mentioned it once or twice... its like second nature to the author and they stop thinking about it.
