J, Q, K, A, 2... Isn't that a Straight?

I was playing today and I got those cards and the system showed (High Card Ace)

Isn't that a straight??

No its not.
Only the Ace can count for a low and high card. The 2 is meaningless in your hand.

You can only use an ace going one way. Either A2345 or AKQJ10, You can not do QKA23, It has to go one way.

The highest straight you can have is 10-J-Q-K-A and the lowest is A-2-3-4-5. The cut off point if you like is the ace, therefore you can't have straights such as Q-K-A-2-3.

ha my friend thought you could bridge that way... he also calls his aces (Ace-pair) and i am like what are you talking about

you never quite mentioned what variation of poker you where playing and also what the community cards and your hole cards where, but either way the J,Q,K,A,2 is not a straight in any of the variations of poker I know.
