How not to limp bet? Hello everyone! I play mostly cash games at 15/30c tables. I'm not a big caller, and if i think i have a decent hand i will mostly always raise. So with the stakes i'm playing at, what should i be raising; especially pre-flop? I generally raise 90c; is that the best way? many thanks!

Bgo has it right. When you raise 3x, it is sufficiently big to raise with one player. But when you have several limpers, they are calling because the pot is bigger (3x + limp + limp). Their pot odds are better. So to discourage, you need to add a blind for each limper. That way, they don't get in the pot cheap.

I'd have to disagree with the responses on this thread so far. Your preflop raising will be adjusted according to the table you're playing on (ie. if 3x raises are getting 4-5callers it's obviously not enough.... if others are raising 5x & still getting into pots hu or 3way, then you might want to raise it 5x pre > it depends on the table). I've played on some online sites where 4-5x pre was the norm & others where 3x is norm (< which is more typical). Live games where 15x is the norm.

I would follow standard at the beginning but I would adjust my raise sizes depending on the types of players im playing against. If they are really tight, I would not raise that large although if they are loose, I would raise larger than "standard."
