How many Outs...?

This is something we've been having fun with in another forum...

hand 1 consists of Ac, Js

hand 2 consists of As, 5h

the board is Ah,2c,2h,3h

How many outs does hand 2 have to win or tie the hand?

I've got my answer but I'll let some others answer. This is a good practice question, there are alot of possibilities to think about.

Hand 2 has 14 outs to win: 3 fives, 8 hearts, and 3 fours (don't count 4h twice)

Hand 2 has 11 outs to tie: 4 Kings, 4 Queens, 2 deuces, 1 Ace

15 outs to win: 3 fives, 4 fours (including 4h), 8 hearts
9 outs to tie: 1 Ace, 3 Kings, 3 Queens, 2 deuces

so 24 outs altogether to win or tie, not bad.

God, I've edited this like three times, lol.

I miscounted the hearts (your 15 to win is correct) but what happened to your deck that it only has 3 Kings and Queens?

1 of the Kings & 1 of the Queens are both hearts, so they were already counted in the winning outs.

15 to win, ... 24 to win or tie; 34% chance to win,... 54% chance to win or tie.

Your deck has a King and queen of hearts? Wow.

I'd like to change my answer.

Lol, don't feel too bad, that was one of my edits. I realized it after I hit the submit button.
