| BB/100 is a way of calculating your winrate. Note, there are two ways people use this. bb/100 and BB/100. They are different. bb is "big blinds" and BB is "Big Bets". A big bet is 2 "big blinds". The term BB goes back to the days where people used to calculate their winrate in limit games as the bet size doubles in later streets because the pots get bigger. |

As for your questions...is it possible to win 2bb/100? Absolutely. Is it possible for you? We don't know. We have no clue about how your game is, what your knowledge level is, or what stakes you're planning on playing. A lot more information is needed to figure those areas of your game out. How is your playing going right now? Current levels? Current Winrate? Volume you're putting in? As for bb/100 vs BB/100 brank already took care of that. |

From everything I've read in all your posts OP you're getting way, way ahead of yourself. You've barely started to learn the game. Focus on learning first, accept that you're probably going to lose money during the learning process and put any thoughts of win rates and grinding out of your mind for the time being. Just to clear up one other misconception that some people have on this topic, your winrate in bb/100 is an average over tens of thousands of hands. People with a 2bb/100 winrate don't walk away with exactly 2bb for every 100 hands they sit down to play. Sometimes they'll win a lot more than that, sometimes they'll lose a big chunk. They'll still have swings in their bankroll and even the "grinders" that you idolise have losing days, weeks, even months. Nobody makes exactly 2bb every 100 hands. |

| I think it's cool to see a newer'ish' player who's excited/enthused about the game, wanting to learn more & perhaps trying to visualize themselves grinding it out one day (ie. "anyone build a bankroll starting with <$30" etc.). Reading posts from members like jaystun helps to re-motivate me. gl jaystun!! |

| Ive always been a little confused by this.. 2bb/hour..whats the point, at 25NL thats 50c per hour? Youd have to be playing 20 tables to make 10 bucks an hour...surely this cant be right... make money faster playing double thru.. So i'm assuming im missing something obvious? |

2BB/100 is an OK, but not great win-rate. At 25nl that's $1/100 (remember one BB = two bb). Playing 4-6 tables you can expect to play about 500 hands per hour. So you are winning $5/hour. Doesn't seem like much. But if you are winning at 5BB/100, which is certainly possible for decent players, you are now winning $12.50/hour. |

As for building your roll, improve your game and play within your roll and your ability, and it will grow naturally over time. |

Also, £8 an hour is not really "well above" minimum wage, which i believe is 6.40 or so. Im not arguing, i wish i could make £8 an hour playing poker, lol, but then, i'm a house husband, so even a few hundred a month would be extra. PS...no one pays tax surely, after all, we dont get tax relief on losses... |

| Another way you can look at this is by calculating a few key numbers together: 1. Number of hands you play each hour (75) 2. Number of hours you plan to play (40) 3. Size of the bb ($0.50) 4. Estimated winrate (2bb) *Everything in the brackets is only for this example* This would all come together like this: 1. 75 * 40 = 3000 2. 3000/100 = 30 3. $0.50 * 2bb = $1.00 4. 30 * $1.00 = $30.00 a week All in all, stick to your day job. Haha. |

The tax implications vary depending where you live, but assuming poker winnings aren't taxable, then you have to factor that in to compare against a taxable salary; e.g. if your job pays $10 per hour and you pay 20% tax, you end up with the same amount in your pocket by winning $8 per hour playing poker. |
