Just in case you don't know, BB =big bet. So if you are playing .05/.1 blinds, the BB = 0.2. Normally you multitable cash games. So the way ppl grind money in cash even if they are only making 3BB/100 is because they are probably playing 8 tables. Therefore, they are actaully making 24BB/100 and if you are playing say 0.5/1$ blinds, that works out to 48$/hr. I really really really wouldn't worry about how much you make at micro stakes/hr. It isn't going to be much. Just work on learning how to play and building your BR.

But if you're just beginning, shoot for something over 0. If you can have fun and profit, even just a bit, you're doing something right. Continue to get better, shooting for a certain BB/100 isn't going to get you there, just continue to work on your game and see what you can accomplish. |

I've read several places that professional live poker players plan on winning one big blind per hour. For the very high stakes games, they plan on winning even less. I play fairly similar to what ChuckTs describes in his 10K postament and make a little more than 9BB/100.

(Disclaimer: speaking in general terms, not necessarily from experience) First off, a pedantic note: because hands happen faster online, win rates tend to be expressed per hundred hands rather than per hour. The one big bet an hour rate comes from live games where the players might only be seeing 20 or so hands an hour. So that works out to 4-5BB/100 hands and if you can sustain that online, you'll be doing very well. If you're a very good player you might be able to take micro stakes for a bit more than that because they play will, in general, be of a worse standard, but I wouldn't expect it'd be a quantum leap bigger or anything.

I made $2 yesterday sitting at a .1/.2 limit table yesterday on Pokerstars. I played solid hands usually and if it was cheap enough I showed my worse hands for everyone to see. Soon everyone starts calling you with your premium hands. Then when you win a couple of big hands and your stack gets bigger people start respecting you and actually not calling you down until the river. So basically mix up your play. Now this isn't normal for me though. I'm just in it to play 360 player sng's for 10 cents. I just try to make 20-30 cents and then I go play the micro tourney's. Hopefully I can move up soon to bigger limits.

re: hourly rate at micro stakes poker i have been running at about 8BB/100 over 4k but only 2 tables ,i feel that learning to play a winning style is more important than money cause if your in the micros unless you are 24 tabling you are probably not going to earn much, im just grinding up a BR and when i feel ready move up a limit! i have only had 2-3 losing sessions out of about 50 . but we shall see the true score after about another 50k hands .

I dont know how sustainable it is but I cashed out everything (over 200) over the summer and in February started playing freerolls again. Last week I cashed in play chips for $7 and started playing 0.01/0.02 on Full Tilt (as well as a few SnGs. Over 2093 hands I have averaged 47 big blinds / 100 hands (aka $0.94/100). I am currently limiting myself to 3 tabling with a full $2 buyin (in tilt max is $2 instead of 5 on PS). I guess my question is whether that is sustainable or if im just hitting some good variance? My graph so far is attached:
