Help playing blinds

One of the biggest chip drains in my game is how I play the blinds. I know the theory is don't play if you wouldn't call with the hand if you weren't in the blind, but I have a hard time laying them down when I get a good draw hand, or hit top pair on the flop (which is usually 77, as my most consistent hand is 2-7o).

The other side of that coin is the huge pots I have won in the blinds, by flopping a full house (of 2s & 7s of course) or straight.

Any advice on how to tighten up blind strategy?

Something I always do is look to see how many chips the BB has if I am the SB. If I have alot more them him and it's me and him heads up, I will often call, raise, or go all in with hopes of stealing his pot.

Yeah, I'm fine if it's just me & the BB. I also have no problem folding the blinds to a large raise if I have rags. I can stand up to blind stealers if the hand warrants it.

It's just if there are multiple limpers, I don't have a raising hand & I hit something on the flop. I have a tendency to go runner-runner after hands I wouldn't have been in in other positions.

I play more hands then I should out of the blinds. Usally I'll call if I have suited cards, connecting cards, of gapped connectors. If a couple people in front of you have called or even min. raised I'll call b/c if I hit a straight of a flushed or even two pairs. Most of the time you will have the best and if you miss or even hit with a weak hand like 2 7 with top pair of 7's just let it go. Just don't chase.

I too play a few more hands out of the blinds then perhaps one should. I try to limp with PP's or a decent starting hand and I will not hesitate to fold if a strong raise from the position players happens after my limp. You just never know, a decent flop and your in like flin.

there are a couple things that i can think of that would be draining your stack off of the blinds.

1) how frequently are you calling pre flop raises from the blinds.
2) how frequently are you making steal attempts from the blinds with mid range hands when multiple players have entered the pot.
3) depending on your pre flop play, what is your post flop strategy. if you are not following up raises with contiuation bets on missed flops, you are giving away any belief that you have a strong holding. if you are betting too much on a continuation bet on a missed flop, that could also be very costly when you get caught.
