| Help with chasing low in PLO8 aka "when is it ok to chase low only?" I wanted to get some discussion going about this. I sometimes chase low only even though I know I shouldn't. Not sure if it is from boredom or lack of experience still but nonetheless this happens to be and I find myself having to win a whole bunch of hands to recover. So.... How do I resist this temptation and when is it ok to chase low. |

| This is a generic response, but I only like to chase low if my hand has straight and/or flush possibilties. If my hand hasn't improved so that I'm one card away from a high or a strong low hand on 5th street, I usually bail. Ideally, you play to scoop the pot. Chasing the low tends to be a non-profitable play over time. |

First of all, chasing should be out unless u have strong draws for a scoop. Chasing lo has tons of ways to lose (quartered, counterfeited, beat) and is never recommended by any pro I ever heard. Play strong drawing hands both ways, or maybe high depending on board etc... never lo, it is a losing game. If you are chasing you are burning chips. Will you then call with second best on river for half a stack? Hmmmm? Read the OHL article in SSII. |

| You probably want to consider things like the odds that the pot is laying, whether you're chasing the nut low or a lesser one, how good or bad your draw is, and the likelihood that the low will be split even if you do catch. |
