im looking to deposit $200 soon to finally give myself a proper bank roll for the 0.5c-0.10c im not to fussed about making money although it would be nice... im more concerned about learning more and improving my game. Do you think this is a good idea and is there any over ways i could improve my game. ive read a few books and now just trying to put my knowlage to use.

Welcome - try jumping through some of the threads here, there are a ton of suggestions. Use the search function to look for book suggestions (there are a bunch of threads on that topic). Also try reviewing the Golden Archives forum.

i think if i was depositing that much i would definitely play in a higher game than 0.5c-0.10c. if u r more concerned about about learning and improving your game. u know the higher the stakes the better the players are. try .10c-20c or .25c-50c. you will learn more playing wit those guys.

Yeah, he should definitely play $50 NL with a $200 deposit. 4 buy ins is TOTALLY AWESOME BANKROLL MANAGEMENT.

Stop posting advice that is absolutely false please.

Anyways, to address the opening post, with $200, I'd try to play $5 NL. 20 buy ins is enough if you're really good, but since you're just learning, give yourself an even bigger cushion.

Also, if you're playing cash games, the single biggest thing you can do is to post hand histories in the hand analysis forum here. (http://www.cardschat.com/f50/) You'll get feedback from good players, pointing out all your mistakes.

I also wrote a short little thread with some tips for beginning players who are making their first deposit.

I suggest you try the full tilt academy.. they have a lot of pointers that's gonna help a lot to improve your game.. or maybe read threads in this site..there's actually a lot of useful information about this site..
check out my thread .. there's a lot of positive contributions by our members here in CC..

I don't think the situation calls for negativity here at all.Just lighten up a bit and play some poker.If you don't have positive words of encouragement then don't feel the need to share your opinion.It's pretty simple really.In actuality just kick back and play some cards man and just relax.Take down some pots and take it easy there.

Basically do this.

BRM is a key factor is sustaining a winrate at poker. Dont be tempted to play beyond your BR as its a recipe for disaster.

$200 and 5NL is fine (10NL at a push but dont go beyond that)

the 20 buy-in rule is really aimed at the first level or two.. beyond that you need to start increasing the number of buy-ins from 20 to 100. At least you need a plan to have 100 buy-ins by the time you hit 100/200NL

The following advocates using a $200 BR to play 50NL (4 buyins).

It is very bad advice.

Its difficult to be positive whilst also telling someone that they are giving bad advice.
