| Greater variance with aggression? Wondering about this. I'm working on becoming more aggressive as per advice from other players. On flop and turn and less willing to fold on the river when I've put on the pressure up to that point. It's most likely that I'm still wobbly on my feet with these efforts and experiencing more loss as a result. Regardless, I'm curious. With aggressive play, is there greater variance? Seems logical that there might be because more is being put on the line where it's being used. I don't want to do myself a disservice by not taking this into account. By the same token, I don't want to use it as an excuse, if it's not the case. |

| I might not be the best person to say yes but ... yes. I sure hope I'm right but my experience has been that being more aggressive has led me to a higher degree of variance. Personally I'm ok with it as I enjoy playing for bigger pots. Many fish will happily chase those str8 and flush draws just to show their bravado in the face of a strong raise. It's important to remember that aggression does not equal looseness. For me it has more to do with playing your position properly and trying to get all your chips in good when ahead. It's also important to know who at your table will respond and in what manner they will respond to your aggression. |

Glad to know about the inherent variance, though. Eases the fear factor. |
