| Well you have definetly started at the right place ! Welcome to CC. If you're completely new to poker (I mean started in the last few days), then I would suggest you download a poker client (pokerstars, full tilt, ...) and just sit down with some play money for a few weeks and just get the feel for poker and the clients, (you could even deposit 20$ if you really want). Just muck around for a while. If you're past that then I suggest you pick a game and stick to it, cash or sng (or tournaments ...), then start at the lowest possible limit for the chosen game. From there look out for some strategy articles on the internet that match the games you're playing. From there study the game while logging in some hands. If it's cash games you're into, here's some stuff you can start with (the way I started, not necesserily the best way to start) : - Preflop positional awareness - Preflop starting ranges - Evaluating board textures - C-betting - Putting players into categories (fish, nits, ...) - Value betting - ... Otherwise play tight and use bankroll management, getting good is up to you and the more you put in, the more you'll get out. A bon entendeur |

| First of all Welcome to CardsChat, the best and friendliest poker forum on the interweb thingy. Like wrung24 said you have come to the right place, there are some very good strategy articles in the following link http://www.cardschat.com/f50/ (http://www.cardschat.com/f50/) or in the Tournament Hand Analysis Forum http://www.cardschat.com/f51/ (http://www.cardschat.com/f51/) Make sure you read the following thread before posting in the Hand analysis sections, Poker Strategies - Posting Guidelines If you read and post in the links I gave you, you will get some great advise from some of the great poker players that analyse hands and post in those threads. One tip that almost all will say is to Practice Proper Bankroll Management, if you are unsure what that is just do a search for Proper Bankroll Management and you will most likely find 100's if not 1000's of posts on the subject. Good Luck. Z. |
