good flop but not good enough

i had AJo
opp had 44

flop J4J

i bet half my stack he went all in i called

turn 5 river 8 and i was out and that hurts because i was fifth at the time and only 60 players left (1200) maybe i should have folded but thats easy to say after it happened.

Just another loss that can happen to the best of us. They are hard to take sometimes. Better luck at the tables.

Jodie is right...it was a cooler

Please don't ever think about folding in that spot, you are only behind one hand at that point

If you think that is running bad Jodie and I are both from washington so we can't even play online for money without risking 5 years in prison.

Did you raise before the flop? If so what was it? What position were you in? What position was the villain in? Did you do a continuation bet?

This sounds like it could be a bad beat story, but if you were out of position or didn't raise properly, this is bound to happen again.

Don't get me wrong here - I am not trying to pour salt in the wound - just trying to help you improve your game.

i was in early position (number 1, UTG), there were 9 players and some aggr.
AJo is a good hand but not that good to make a huge bet so i limped in to see if others would make a huge bet (then i would have folded). 5 others also limped in (player with 44 limped in and was on spot two behind me). Then came the flop which was really good for me and i made bet 1/2 of my stack. no 2 went all in and all the others folded. I thouhgt he prob. had a J with lower kicker than me so i called.

your right it was a bummer but my opinion is that he would have folded if you raised. At least i would have folded 44, but the point is that i think it was a bad move just to call here. A raise would eliminate all theese pests and got you in great position against QQ or whatever (not in a great pos. but good enough to suck out on him with a bit of luck).
But if I was there and knew what the flop would be and didint see any other oponents cards i would have slow played that to. To bad. Well better luck next time

This is just one of those hands that plays itself after the flop....they'll drive you crazy for years. You're fine and good luck in the future.

Well, there"s nothing you can do about it, he has the better card and your's is second best. That's the beauty in poker, it's like a guessing game, you're trying to guess what card he has.
