Full tilt "feature" - Showing hands

I was wondering if anyone knows what logic Full tilt uses to show the hand when it does not go to the end of the hand. It appears that occasionally the winning players cards will be shown to the table, even if everyone else drops out before the Turn or river.

Is this something that the user initiates? If so, how is that done?

It appears to me that it is always when they have a good hand that it shows. If that is correct, does full tilt always show the hand if it is of at least a certain ranking? I find it very strange that Full tilt does this as it will reveal when the player has been bluffing or actually had the nuts and give you insight into what the situation will be the next time that player does a similar move. If anyone knows the logic or what initiates this action at the table, I would like to know.

It's at the users option to show. If you want to have the option (never smart to show imo but) you can uncheck auto-muck from the main Options dropdown.

Yes this is under player control. Look at Option - Auto Muck from the main screen.

Excellent, thanks for the answer. I guess to read into the player a little further then, if they are showing their cards sometimes, and not at others, they are likely doing a lot of bluffing and just showing the cards when they weren't bluffing to try and keep the others guessing. Is that a fair assumption?

I wouldn't go as far as that - every player is different.
Generally showing is not a good idea but nevertheless I do show sometimes in order to set up an image like the one you created above .

There are many many reasons not to show cards. And many many reasons to show them.

It is up to you and what you think the table are like and what will confuse them the most.

I've played a lot of Sit and Gos and when you get down to the last 3 players, I notice that some people start showing the cards they are mucking before the flop (These tend to be all garbage hands).
I believe they are trying to show that they are tossing all their garbage hands, so when they do stay in you will think they have something good.

Dude, thats called mucking. In your options, you can put an option
that allows you to muck your cards or show your cards. The very players
on the table decide to show their cards to you after they have won.
Sometimes this can be advantageous to a player if they want the other
players to think he or she plays a certain way. Other times its just because
the guy wants to show off his hand or for some other reason. As i said,
if you wish to do the same, just go to the options on top and look for one
that has the word "muck" in it, and once you finished with that you'll
be able to show your hands if you wish.
