the FTA vides are decent! Not much advanced info but will definately give you a decent foundation to start with. I would watch some of the videos on here of memebers cash games and such. They go into detail about the plays they make and why they make them. Also read books and study up at this forum and you will improve quite a bit!!

If you are a gold member for the FTA then you will get to see a lot of videos that help your game. They have sessions from pros and some of the lessons go very in depth. I recommend watching the videos because getting inside the heads of pros is the smart thing to do.

Yes I also agree and think they are definitely worth watching,at the very least they will help you understand a few things a bit better. How could they not be worth watching?I like them and as a bonus they have a $5000 freeroll each month for those that qualify for it.

Woah, woah, woah - a $5000 freeroll for participating in Full Tilt Academy. . . I'm definitely going to have to check that out. I remember thumbing through the videos a month or so ago, but I don't remember seeing anything about a freeroll to qualify for. Thanks for pointing that out. |

To get in the freeroll you have to answer questions and place in the top 1,000 people or something like that. Its not too tough. But yeah the videos are pretty good. I've been playing 50NL for a while now and the videos gave me a few things to think about. There are a few things (such as min-raising AA UTG) that I don't agree with, but overall it seems pretty cool. Oh and sometime in the next few weeks the Academy store is going to open. All you have to do is start up a challenge and then go play on the tables and the challenges will be completed as you play. Its pretty simple.

re: full tilt academy - legit? poker With all the great information out there, it is somewhat ironic that the level of play hasn't gotten a whole lot better. If anything is has been declining. Maybe it's just me..you know the old lady that folds 7-2, 9-6, K-2 those types of hands. Seems like the new breed of players feels like those are all-in hands.

Ok, I misread your post. The video is odd anyway because I'm pretty sure I originally heard about sizing bets based on position from Phil Gordon in the first place. Sounds like he's contradicting his own advice. I guess he considers adjusting bet size to be more advanced, and the video is aimed at beginners.

usually when someone says you don't change your bet sizes they mean don't bet pot with the nuts, and 1/2 pot on a draw, or when river betting, don't bet huge with a bluff and 1/2 as a value bet. If you keep your bets the same it makes it harder for your opponent to get a read on what you are doing. And when you're talking preflop, keeping your bets the same doesnt mean you cant change based on position, It means dont bet 5x the bb on the button with Aces and Kings and then bet 2-3x on the button w/ say suited connectors, or dont bet 2-3x with a good hand and 5-6x with garbage, as you will be to predictable.
