Full Ring VS 6-Max?
Okay so I mainly play 6-max at pokerstars since there is not so many players to wait for ..and was wandering...is 6-max harder or more challenging than full ring? or is it the other way around?
what are some thoughts on this one? |

It depends on your style, if your a complete and absolute nit, full ring is more your style, and for the semi-tight aggro types 6max is better. You do have to make more decisions in 6max which theoretically makes it the more difficult table to play, as you have a higher chance of making mistakes. But also offers the higher winrate.

6 max is generally a bit harder. You get put in a lot of marginal situations, since you're generally playing more hands. But if you do well in those marginal situations, you can have a higher win-rate.
Full ring certainly has much less variance, however. I go back to full ring sometimes when I'm looking for some easy money. |

generally speaking.. you play more hands 6 handed and less 9 handed.. you have to play more hands because blinds get to you faster and thus you are sometimes forced to play mediocre hands that you could probably lay down any day at a 9 handed table.. its really dependent on your style.. some people prefer 9 handed some 6... i personally like 6-max but thats just me..

I used to play 6 max all the time but have switched to full ring after my visit to a live casino. That's how they play it there and I was very successful so why not keep practicing for when I go back. 6 max is probably alittle tougher when making tough decisions but patience is the key in 9 handed.

Strictly speaking, and to re-iterate the comments above. FR is mainly a nut peddling exercise, trying to hit monster hands on the flop when given the odds to do so. So at FR you will see plenty of reg nits who just sit there and wait, wait and wait for the nuts.
6max is a more looser and aggressive, generally speaking. The key here, is not to play as nitty, but become a more refined player in post flop pots. You have to float villains more, value bet thinly, and go to river a helluva lot lighter that you would be expected to than at FR. |

I try to play TAG but it is my nature to play LAG so I find that 6 - max is a good comprimise for me since I can play more hands without getting into as much trouble as I would in full ring games. I do play full ring games also to try and work on being more patient.
