freeroll winnings

if youre good its easy to build up some money through freerolls. the trick is turning it into something. also knowing when to cash some out. i built up to $1,800 from freeroll winnings. but i got greedy, didnt cash much out and started playing on the 5/10 tables trying to strike big. so build up, cash some out and dont get greedy like i did.

I've seeded a bankroll through freerolls many times. That means I've gone bust many times. I've also gone from zero to as high as 3K before cashing out. I think the trick is to cash a freeroll and then grind up through micro ring or $1/$2 SnGs. Once you get ur BR up to around $100, then start playing the $5 SnGs and $10 ring games. Use tight BR management and don't get frustrated if you need to step back down a level and regroup. Always remember how hard it was to build your BR from scratch when you feel yourself ready to tilt.

I can't count how many times I have built a bankroll from nothing and lost it all. But the sickest part of it was going back to freerolling. It made me feel so bad about myself, but I managed to reavalluate my game and the importance of it to me, and I have realized that I just enjoy the fun of it. So yes, I am still struggling to build a BR but now I enjoy playing the freerolls more simply because I don't have the overpowering desire to go go go and become a pro lol.

I'm on my third $0 to inifinity run after about 1-1/2 years of playing with freeroll money. In the past I was only able to get up to around $50 or so on Full Tilt Poker and $100 or so on PokerStars. But after a month or two I was back down to $0.
This time things are going very well, so far. It's been 6 months of grinding starting at $0.02/$0.04 FLHE and $0.01/$0.02 NLHE, moving up to $0.25/$0.50 FLHE on PokerStars. And $0.25/$0.50 FLHE on Full Tilt Poker with a brief stint at $0.10/$0.20 NLHE.
I've found that the bad beats in NLHE cash games make the variance too much to bear, so I'm sticking to FLHE cash games for now, and will just keep moving up limits. And I'll mix in some SnG's and MTT's for my NLHE fix.
I'm trying to keep to only having 5% or less of my bankroll at any one table, but I'm usually multi-tabling at least 2 tables; so I'll just have to try to avoid going on TILT to prevent having to start from $0 again.
Right now I have a little less than $300 combined on the two sites. I think as I approach $500 and hopefully $1,000, I'll look to take $100 out at a time. Hopefully that won't take another 6 months.
Wish me luck!

Hi.. Guys !! It's Amazing how hard is to build you Bankroll starting from a freeroll cash game. When you make the money to play in better levels, you have to maintain focus on not getting on tilt. Because I think that the most important thing , when you start building Up your stack, like A friend just said remember how hard it was to build your BR from scratch when you feel yourself ready to tilt

The same as by my wife. We both play poker over one PC and so with one BR. We have won over $800 in four month in Freerolls. But then she begin to play Cash, OPL and NLH. After her first Downswing we have lost over $250, and because we have cash out a littlle bit before, our Bankroll is very small at that time. But we work on it and we stop to play cash for a while.

Good luck wish,

Bluestone

On full tilt once i hit $10 from free rolls i do 4 fergies and 3 sngs and if my roll is under $10 once im done i go back to free rolls. On pokerstars im moragressive and once i have 50 cents i go crazy and play any tournie i can untill i get my bank roll 10x its start.

One of the common problems you see. In fact Chris Ferguson refers to it in his o to 10K article on FTP. He hears all the time how much someone got their Bankroll up to a point and then lost it all.

Bankroll Management is the key!

building a bankroll from freeroll winnings can be hard.. you really need good bankroll management.... avoid going on tilt... you can easily lose it all by going on tilt.. and dont risk more than you can afford to lose.. winning 1k can take a year but you can lose it all in 1 day... you really need self control..

I completly agree... you need to be very careful and only play tournament that you know you have decent odds to win. And you cant go out of your limitations on the stakes.

$1,800 in freroll winnings? Outstanding! I've gotten a little over a hundred once or twice, but ended up losing most of it eventually on SNG's or pay tourneys. Always seem to hit a streak of bad luck.

I think the key to freeroll money making is organization.

When you do have some money don't forget about the freeroll tourneys still running. Get yourself a freeroll scroller for you Igoogle. If you are playing 10 tournaments a day 9 of which are free, 1 is a buy-in with a nice added.

Making sure you increase your odds of playing tournaments.

If you one a freeroll 1 - 100. The more freerolls you consistently get into the better off you are. Maximize your potential for free.

Find yourself a nice tourney and play only it.

Get the blind increases, relative chip stack amounts, and style of playing under your belt making sure it is the right tournament for your bankroll.

Get a calender to mark down the special freerolls, that are worth more than you should try not to miss.

Up load your schedule into a online alarm, this will ensure that you will not miss registrations.

I think that this happens so much often to many people that begins to seem suspicious as if the system itself try to throw you down and getting the money back.Observe the frequencies of the great cards that you've been dealt with in Freeroll tourneys and in SNG.

It sucks so the only reasonable advice is CAUTION and try playing the small cards that you normally fold......

Setting yourself limits is the best thing. If you win a lot of money cash a sum of it out. You can't keep winning and playing big ring games to get more money rarely ends up in huge profits. Greedyness leads to loss.

What do you think?
