First of all thank you all for your responses. I am feeling alot better for joining this forum/club.
Second let me appoligize for just making this post in hast and not taking the time too give my actual feelings (beliefs) on this subject.
I will attempt too break it down as I see it. Here it goes.
1) quality playersa)finding quality players hapens in any game, this is fact I agree.
b)players that dont care are also found in all games no matter what the stakes. (too much money too care)
c) also a quality player one day can be the fool the next (even hand too hand sometimes)
2) making it in freerolls and comparison too learning a conventional sport i.e. football, baseball, ect.a) this happens I agree ; BUT it comes at a cost too the first time players especially.
(explanation) most of the new too poker people have only T.V. and online play as exposure too this game. compared to the back yard and school programs that the traditional games are learned. now we should all agree that you can't believe that this exposure for the new players just does not measure up.
b) most of the pro-players we all watch and well hate/idolize have actually started poker not online. They played with their family and/or friends in real face too face play. Even if there was not money involved they had to face the people they cared about evaluating there disicions and lets face it making them feel stupid when they deserved it.
3) Having something of value too lose is the primary component of poker!a)this is a fact in my opinion and I believe most of you will agree.
Explanation; I value my pride above all else, this is esential too my being. I can only assume that is also true too the others that actually reading this that made it through the freeroll games with an actual game and maybe a bankroll. being able to just close out of a freeroll and start a new one with no accountability or monetary loss is something that will kill a persons chances of developing a sense of actual poker play faster than anything I could imagine.
b)in any endevor work, play or family an individual has to have a mentor, now taking a PRO on T.V. as a mentor is just wrong
Criss Fergeson being able to navigate freerolls after playing the WORLD POKER TOUR as a regular, is not that impressive to me. If you want accountability and a mentor start playing with people you know on a regular basis, who knows yo may become a mentor to someone you care about, develope a more meaningful relationship, and even a real game you can take too the casino's in your area. Wives, children, siblings, parents, and even that lonely grandparent you havent talked too in day's or weeks are the first that come too my mind.
WHAT YOU PAY IS WHAT ITS WORTH, QUIT SPENDING ALL YOUR TIME WITH STRANGERS IN A MEANINGLESS FREEROLL AND GET REAL!
Now if you find yourself alone and with no more PRODUCTIVE way to WASTE your time by all means play the freeroll, just don't VALUE it as REAL POKER. it's nothing more than any other usless vidio game that is rotting the brains of countless youths around the world. unlimited lives and endless play with no real loss or meaning.
Sincerly and maybe misled
