| Folding 4 of a kind pre-flop Did I play this right? During a online poker tourney earlier today... My pocket hands were 2hearts 7 diamonds. I call ($20), since I had a decent sized chip stack. The Small Blind raises $250, the BB reraises all-in ($1425) I fold ofcourse, at this point I only had 2,7 offsuit. The flop turns over triple deuces-which would have given me quad deuces. BB had a K,10 and won with trip deuces, king kicker. I did the right play right? |

| Of course you played that right. The only way you couldve played it differently is if you had like 50,000 chips to everyone elses 1500, cause if you wouldve called an all in with 72 without having a huuuuuuge chip lead, you could consider yourself SUPERDONK. lol |

Gnomeace posted here to learn something, not to get sucked out by you -massimo- . Your advice is foul. Be ashamed. I don't know many occasions were playing 7,2 is of much help. You shouldn't have been in that hand at any time. Forget the hand you layed down - it will keep you from tilting. And yes, I do see quads to a folded hand often. Last time yesterday, J7o folded to a flopped JJJJ. Damn, I should have forgotten that - |

| Terrible fold IMO If you knew that it was going to be 4 of a kind pre-flop (as the title of this thread implies) then that was a terrible fold.. why would anyone fold 4 of a kind? However if your 'spidey sence' is only that of a mere mortal then why were you calling for with 7-2o? Terrible hand.. not even worth a call!!! (it is actually the worst hand in holdem) |

| re: Folding 4 of a kind pre-flop poker hard to say, you only told us you had a decent amount of chips, you didnt say if the stage of the game was late or early,so how can i say possitively you played right or wrong ? chances are you did the right right thing. 7-2 dont play at any stage for me unless its a last ditch effort to stay alive when im near broke. |

His limping with 72 was horrible. The fact he considered calling at all was horrible. The fact he's looking at the results and saying OMG it would have been four of a kind is most horrible. In fact, the only thing he did that made any sense at all was folding after incorrectly limping. |

I had a guy fold A,J to my 7,2 at a live cash game a few weeks back.. with an A on the flop. Nothing better. The 7,2 bluff hurts so much more than any other! |

| Once you fold your hand, put it out of your mind. Your decision is based on the information at the time, not on what the flop will bring. Luckily, my terrible short-term memory means that I forget my hole cards almost instantly, avoiding this kind of "folder's remorse." Also, my terrible short-term memory causes me to forget my hole cards as soon as I throw them away. That, coupled with my poor short-term memory, means that this type of thing rarely bothers me. |

Unfortunately, Pokerstats lets you look at your cards even after you've folded them (you obviously can't play them anymore). And while I used to just turn away from the screen while the rest of the hand plays out, I've found that it worked against me since I cant pick up subtleties of the other players while doing this. |

| Don't feel frustrated or annoyed that you would of hit Quads, you still made the right decision. You shouldn't of even called the big blind, never mind thinking about calling a raise! Next time you get 7 2, fold it again. Chances are you won't see that flop again in a very long time, so don't let it affect your judgement. |

| When you had to make the call you were behind. . . . a 2 7 to his k 10 so even though you didn't win the hand for not calling you made the right decision at the time, . . . and i would agree with a couple of others who said 27 offsuit is the worst starting hand in holdem,.... would have saved the $20 myself but its a varied game with too many playing styles to say do or don't so just enjoy |

And if you're serious, that's even worse. If this is your true opinion, you really do the poker community a disservice by dispensing any advice at all. I like to joke, too, but maybe there's a little too much of that on here. We bluff each other during the game, we shouldn't be bluffing with our advice. This beginner stuck his neck out looking for honest advice and it could very well be he can't differentiate the sincere advice from the jokes. I'm not sure I can either. Wilko, please respond and tell us you are joking. If you are not joking, either give up poker immediately or come and play at my table. GW |

| See even with a decent chip stack i would never have called even 20 with a 7/2. It sucks when you see a flop like that, but i try not to let it get to me when i flop something like that. Just know you made the right move by folding. But you should have folded before you even put in even 20. |

| come on now!!?? Of course you did the right thing what are the chances of that happening?? like a million to one?? 7/2 is the worst hand in poker and on line I have seen it work if you are a huge chip stack over everyone else then you can afford to take a chance every once in a while and if it hits it hits big and when it don't you have no shot at all ya know.. |

6/50*2/49*1/48 = 0.01% (which is actually 1 out of 10k flops assuming you don't care which hole card quads up.) Quote:

| Gnome, this must be a fake post... ...you gotta know that 7-2 is the wrost starting hand in no-limit, right? So, this post has to be some kind of a silly come on to entice people like me to over-react and then to post a silly reply and...never mind. |
