recently i've made the FT in live tournaments but gone out in 4th and 9th position, I'd like to know what type of hands would be appropriate for first in vigour? If I feel I'm getting short stacked 10bb or less would you go in with almost any hand? or would you look for something like a Ks or an Ax/As it is just sometimes I'm in position for first in with garbage 10/4 and the like and don't go in but I've seen lots of blinds stole when someone goes and nobody challenges them? What do you all think? Thanks the sniper

Most dificult part of the game. Watch Phil Gordons video on this it is pretty good. There are no easy answers as every game is different. I played with a guy last night who went from big chip leader to out first at final table because he thought he could bully smaller guys and they had th balls to call him. He was unlucky but hands like Q8, J9 etc were picking up big pots.

You should absolutely not wait for those premium hands when down to ~10BB, or you will either be blinded out before you get them, or you will end up having like 2 or 3xBB left and then doubling up still didn't help you. When to make your moves depends largely on stack sizes at the table and your relative position. For an short stack like yourself, the last person you would want to get involved with is the huge stacks, because they might try to take a stab at it just to get rid of you. The players that you would ideally like to push in to would be the medium stacks, because they are in a somewhat comfortable stacksize right now, but making that call and losing could hurt them, so they are more likely to fold with marginal hands. Also, other short stacks can be dangerous, because they are in the same position as you, so they might be trying to use the "push and pray" mentality as well.

When you get this low, just about any face card, suited connectors, pocket pairs, or even unsuited connectors from about AK-76 would be valid to through in as long as you do it at the right moment against the correct opponents.
