First Steps in Hand Analysis

I have decided to be brave and try for the first time to ask for some help with analysing how I am playing some of my hands, and I know how ferocious some posters here (including myself) can be with people that are perceived to be asking stupid questions, so I have some n00b questions that I would like to ask first in this section of the forum. Ideally I was looking at a situation where I could post this, for example, which I have actually managed to work out how to find without asking anybody first!

Presumably BBV is Brags, Bad Beats and Vents (BBBaV)?

So my question is this:

When I am playing in CC buy-ins (which is my main area of analysis at the moment) I need to concentrate on playing, then post HA questions afterwards. If I posted the cut and paste from Ultimatebet that I have shown above, but delete the bit from

onwards, would that be enough for people to give me feedback

first thing you want to do is convert the hands, especially from ultimatebet, since they are hard to read.

As for your question, you want to state a question or scenario, such as, who likes this shove? who thinks i should flat call if the raiser is a maniac or something? or is min raise best? etc etc

then paste the converted HH up until your action, eg

you cna post the results if you want, but then you will get results orientated responses which skew the responses

i don't know any hh's that convert ub's hh however since it sucks.
Also if you like money, move from ub to just about any other site

So far I have played in CC buy-in tournaments at Titan, Bodog and Ultimatebet, and I will also play in CC buy-ins at PokerStars when the opportunity arises.

Anyone know of a hand convertor that will work for UB please

Flop, Turn, River dot com ......I think it will support UB....give it a try anyway.

I'll give you my two cents on how you played the hand if your still looking for that kind of post. First, if this is how you normally play AA when facing a open "bet pot" raise, then I think you are losing alot of value from your hand. Assuming your opponents are not "crazy donks" you only might get called by other premium hands like KK and possibly AK and QQ. Second, if this something you did to mix up your play on occassion or you have been setting up by frequently pushing over the top of "suspicious" raises, then you might have some expectation of being called. Finally, I would normally re-raise about 3-4 times the initial raisers bet because I feel minimum raising invites a call without finidng out much about the strength of your opponents hand. I would like to limit his range of hands to smaller pairs or two big cards. I want my post flop decisions to be as easy as possible with AA.

You can be quite sure that in CC buy-ins you will be playing against a lot of extremely good players. I mean to raise 2.5 to 3 times blind in early position, 3 times blind in mid position and 4 times blind in late position. Quite often in reality, though, I notice that I limp in when under the gun...

Just for clarification, the first post you quoted was made 13-12-2008, the second 31-05-2006. Unless DM traveled back in time 2 1/2 years, the second wasn't a contradiction of the first.

I'm guessing the more recent post is the valid one.

Yeah you really dont even need to repop this I dont think. You're in the big blind. Theres nobody else left to act after you so you already have a heads up hand... which is exactly what you want with aces.

To repop it for that amount, unless they lose their mind you arent going to get any action most of the time. You can repop it three times their bet, or just smooth call here. I think because I'm in the big blind and theres no one to act after me I'm just smooth calling at least half of the time here.

The challenge I have is that I'm playing at the two extremes at the moment. On the one hand I am playing freerolls and PokerStars play money tournaments, on the other hand I am also playing CC buy-in tournaments against extremely experienced and analytical players. So tricks which I use in donk-fests don't always work!

The reason it works in freerolls and play money tournies, I would imagine, is because a lot of players assume that you are defending your blinds. Because people in freerolls and play money tournies are less likely to be analysing the playing styles of the other players, they may well assume that I am bluffing and call my all-in bet with Ace Rag or pocket pairs. I rarely bluff. It has worked quite a few times for me, but in future I'll try to restrict it to the donk-fests!
