First hand It happens from time to time to have a very nice hand right from the start first hand for example. What would the range be for calling an all in? Is it worth it? Take AKs is it allright to call an all in first hand in a SNG 9 handed? What about a MTT? I don't know what to think about that. Thanks

I haven't heard of the "internet hand", maybe a variant of the "computer hand" Q7, google for possible origins of the phrase (I found two, couldn't find "internet hand"). Obv vollycat is joking though. |

re: First hand poker I would like to build chips early, but taking a coin flip is a gamble. Any 2 cards could hit leaving you out of the tourney early. If we look at AA or KK we are winning over 75% of the time so they go straight in, anything else is a race, probably against a small pair or high ace, AK or AQ possibly suited. So for me call AA or KK, drop the rest and find a better spot

I've recently doubled up on the first hand holding AA which held up against AQ. In a 9 man SNG I'd do this every time not only because my chances are so good against ATC but also because when they do hold up (which they should do around 75-80% of the time) then take such a chip lead that you can then pick your spots more, see a few more speculative flops than you may otherwise do, and against a timid table you can start to dominate. Your chances of then taking down the tourney or at the very least cashing are so much greater.

re: First hand poker lol to me it depends on the buy-in. You'd be surprised what they would go all in with at the 2.20$ tourneys. There, I'd probably call with AQo since the players is going to turn over 49o or J3o ... Otherwise I agree with the AA KK only soultion cuz even then, In the last 2 days, I've been given KK as the first hand and called all-ins and lost. One was against pocket 6s that hit a 6 :S, and the 2nd was against pocket Aces and no miracle card . It sucks but I still believe it's the right play cuz(in the real world more often than internet poker) the chances of one player hitting KK and another hitting AA are quite slim, so always take that chance !
