evaluation requested please :)

hi all
i play now for a bit longer than one year on a regular basis.
i started playing with play money, then freerolls and finally small buyin tournaments.
except for play money i haven t been so successful untill feb 2008 and since i succeded collecting about $60 and 11 WR2 tickets on pokerstar with each astronom tournaments (meaning omaha stud razz holdem hi/lo NL PL NL)
the point is NOT showing off, can you, wise experimentd guys tell me if this is good or bad or average or whatever ?
what kind of results could expect a real good player ?
i must say i played A LOT of astronoms to get my WR2 tickets, that i only played one WR2 till now because of the bad timing and i didn t win any cent, shame on me.
maybe some are nice enough to remember me since a played the two last monday $1 buyin on pokerstar so ... how is it from the other side ?
feel free to knock me down, i can handle it
thx for any reply, have good times

Damn 11 wr2s, (that's weekly round 2's correct, I'm not really good with the lingo part), honestly I think that's a good average to have since the trueth is A, those free rolls have like 10k fields, so that in itself is an accomplishment, and I'm just jealous cuz I tried to make it and I can't no matter how I play them I can't, If I were u I'd be happy that's a great accomplisment

cheers

well i m happy, but i must repeat :
i ve had to play many tournaments to get them
i ve been shoot out lots of time
also i got the first one in a omaha tournament right after they extended the reward to 99 players instead of top 27, i wouldn t have that much with the old system

the pokerstars freerolls are pretty much a joke for the first 2 to 3 hours so kudos to you for getting 11 tickets. now with that said.

you said you have about 60 dollars in your acct. i suggest you start playing the lowest buyin sit and goes, single and multitable, and try to build that bankroll up. this takes time and patience. many of the players play like freerollers but usually once the first 4 or 5 players are gone the competition gets better. once you have a substantial bankroll, you can test the waters in a higher limit. stress bankroll managment.

in poker many of us judge how good we are by tournaments won and money won. if your bankroll goes up, that should tell you that you are on the right path. if it goes down consistantly, perhaps you should look at your game and try to make the correct adjustments. variance can be a nasty little bugger so don't get discouraged if you start into a downswing. get your money in good and you will be a winning player most of the time. that's all i have for now. keep us updates on your progress.

I agree with Chiefer, you're off to a good start. I haven't played any freeroll on Stars for a long time (except CC sponsored games) because it is such a donkfest. Making it past the bubble 11 times in a few months is a nice accomplishment, the added money even better.

I'll repeat the advice to play the lowest limit ring and SnG's and practice good BR management.

One thing that will realy help is asking questions here and reading other peoples questions and the answers given to them. It's a great learning tool that has helped many a player improve their game (including myself). Play the CC sponsored games and as you get to know people and pick up a lot of knowledge from other regular CCr's at the table.

glad to know i m not on a too bad way
woohoo
i ll follow those pieces of advice and i already got some intersting comments from the ccc $1 buyin in wich it is more funny to play (whatever the result) because of the 8000 not registerd shrimps ... i got your point for the freerolls, i just thought most of them were out after first breeak
thx for paying attention to my post

No clue what WR2 is, but with 60$ you shouldn't be playing freerolls. If you have a decent amount of confidence in your play i'd advise the $3.25 turbo SnGs. It is basically either that or you have to play $1 SnGs. If you are fine with $1 SnGs then by all means use those, however, it will take you quite some time to build a bankroll playing them.

Anyways, the micro/low limit SnGs are extremely weak on Pokerstars so you should be able to start a decent bankroll.

Consider the things necessary to do great in those huge tournaments.

You have to have learned about your own patience. You have begun to understand some one those undefinable aspects of what happens when things go good, and what is happening when things don't go so good.

You have experienced the joy of winning, and the frustrations of defeat, and you did much of that at no financial cost to you.

You have learned that it is a very difficult process surviving 20,000 other players.

Yes freerolls are freerolls (insert all negative connotations here). They are full of more bad play than you can shake a stick at. BUT they play more like the big tournament (WSOP) than most of the smaller tournaments that most real money players play.

I have traveled your path, started with play money and freerolls. Man its tuff, but it 'hardened' me (like steel), and I think overall it was worth the time to do it that way.

So, in my opinion, your doing great. It may be close to the time where you make the jump into mostly real money games. Many will probably say it's way past the time, and you should have been a real money player for a few months by now. I won't disagree, but will suggest it is time to re-evaluate your comfort level.
