| Equity Betting? I understand the concept of pot odds did use them when played limit a lot. Moved over to No limit and it is very hard to apply Pot odds to NL. Reading a post a little while back now and somebody mentioned equity betting. Can somebody explain this to me please? And this there a calculation which is used? Cheers Tim |

Equity is what chance you would have to win if all betting was stopped, and the rest of the cards were dealt out. Usually your equity is calculated with a program like poker stove against a range of hands your opponent could have. http://www.pokerstove.com/download/ Play around with that. |

| Every bet you make is an "equity bet". I've never heard anyone use that term before. If you feel that you likely have the best hand then it's equity is from lesser hands putting money in the pot and it's called a value bet. If the hand's equity is in making a superior hand fold, then it's called a bluff. If you have some potential to make the best hand, and some potential for making a better hand fold, then it's called a semi-bluff. All these bets have equities, just come from different places. |
