Double up games Iv mentioned in my introduction post that im interested in making (attempting anyway) a second income from the double up games. $5 is where im starting but would like to move upto £10 then $20 games, play a certain ammount of the $10 games and have been succesfull but its such a small % that its hardly a known quantity. Would like to hear from those that grind at these games successfully, obviously any general poker strategy tips are always welcome and the last few days have killed me with the beats iv been taking, 3 and 2 outers are consitently hitting against me. Drove me nuts lol, got onto this forum looking for is poker rigged threads. So advice on handling these cold runs? Pissing me right off lol. Prior to this I was running at 70%+ overall, is this a big enough margin to make money. I know the games ae low limit at the moment but id be looking to step up in 2-3 months if I think im ready. Anyhow thanks for reading and good luck at the tables unless your playing me lol

If you're running or was at 70%+ then you should of noticed a increase in the bankroll anyway? I've tried double or nothings, but become tedius and doesnt really feel like real poker at times. General rule for them though is playing tighter than tight, even folding Kings if re-raised all-in.

If you're sure you're making the right plays and getting sucked out on lately, then thats just a nasty bit of variance so keep a clear mind and tell yourself you played the hands as good as you could of and keep playing your same A game and if you're following a decent BRM you should be fine and that graph should start going up again.

DoN's continued Continuing from my first thread.... I know he's playing bigger buy ins but have tried today to use it on the 6 handed $5 games and have had reasonable success. I know that one day doesnt make it a winning strategy but with faith I believe this could be a great way forward form me, however these strategies are based on the 10 handed full ring games and I think my premium game is the 6 handed version. So could any of the great poker minds on here look at this strategy and see where id need to change it up for the 6 handed version? Im sure some of you already have and although it might not make sence sharing trade secrets id really appreciate any help. The issues I can see are. 1. The blind go through you more often so by the time you get to the mid range blinds your stack can be a lot lower than he anticipates. And obviously chip stacks are vital. 2. The mid position hand range becomes redundant. All that fits really is either the early or late hands? 3. Less players = bigger playable hand range? Would you open up your range as you would in the late stages of a tourney? or 6 handed cash game? If not are you losing good spots and thus value? So should I tweak it. For example, For example early blinds early position AA-QQ AA-AJ as pushes? smaller pairs as limps? Late position AA-99 AK-A8 set mine any pair and limp suited connectors? I have been getting some bad callers, like KQ against my AA with close to equal stacks?!? Whats that about lol!! Unfortunately he bust me with quad 4s Does anyone grind these 6 handed DoNs? Go easy on me im new to taking the game seriously. All imput and critique welcome tho. Gl all except against me Last edited by dakota-xx : 21st November 2010 at 11:37 PM. Reason: removed link

I haven't played many of these. Probably around 20. I didn't do so good in the beginning but am doing better lately. I've cashed in 5 straight. Before this, I hadn't cashed in 3 straight. The thing to do in the beginning is to be extremely tight. Depending on how you do in the beginning, then vary your mid to end game. If you have a huge stack, then there's no upside to taking unnecessary risks. Let the people on the bubble take the gambles. If you are near the bubble then you need to be aggressive with position.

Winning 70% of these long term really isn't possible, ~60% is but don't expect an ROI higher than 10% over the long haul. Ive played a few hundred $5s and $10s on Merge, and few hundred more on Pokerstars. Altogether made probably about a grand is these, but thats over 1000+ games making my profit roughly $1 per game.

re: Double up games poker Since this thread has already been bumped it would be a good time to point out if you have not heard that that the DoN games are going away at Pokerstars. Replaces by the Fifty50. Since they don;t have Omaha Fifty50s I wonder if they will be adding them or just losing the O games all together. I like the DoNs better. Oh well.
