| Donk psychology So can anybody come up with a coherent thought process for the line this guy is taking? It just baffles me how someone can play a hand like this. I probably played it really badly as well because I have no idea what is the best way to deal with this sort of villain. I realize I probably should've raised or folded pre, btw. | All the possible mistakes from "what not to do" book are here. There is a thread opened by Flechdad . This should be posted there. Marginal hand with a call from CO, calling station untill end, the other one is bluffing a calling station, etc. Have i missed something |

Actually the thread was opened by jillychemung (Examples of what not to do, I just posted an incredibly bad played hand (kind of like this hand, bad play from both me and villain, although mine was probably worse). And, yes, this hand would fit right in there. To OP, its all been said, but my 2 cents. If you are going to play this hand, there is really only one option IMO (other than just fold btw my option #1,) and this option is totally table dependent, meaning you think you can get everyone, including the limper, to fold, or in worst case, call. And that is to raise PF. And after your raise you are done putting money in this pot unless the flop puts you ahead, which it did, but we only know this after the fact, so I am folding this hand on the flop to this raise, even tho I cant see WTF villain was thinking, if he was thinking at all. |

| re: Donk psychology poker i just found the 45 players 1 dollar SNGs from FT. Played 2 of them. 4th place and 1st place. It is just like poker heaven. Worst players i have ever seen. You need to play just 2-3 hands to get ITM. Supertight. If you have a monster kick the hell out of it cose donks will call to see if they are lucky. At the second one i found myself chipleader with a stack 4 times the second one. I do not know why but every time i had Aces or kings someone joined me untill the river Donk psychology is " Someone raised hard? Maybe i get lucky with my J3 and maybe if i can get lucky another time i will get in the money". |

| one type of donkey for you: The Calling Station: How to Recognize Them Always calls and almost never raises. Has a hard time letting go of a hand if he has made a pair (either a pocket pair or any pair on the flop). Strategies for Playing Them Never bluff a calling station – they will pay you off enough when you have a hand. If you have a strong hand, don’t slow play. Bet as much as you think they will call. If they ever do raise, beware, they usually have a strong hand so play cautiously. |

| Here's a fun little exercise. Find a friend who is just rather clueless...knows the rules to the game and stuff, but has never studied strategy. Pay his way into a game online, and just sit and watch him and ask him to tell you what he's thinking. Don't correct him or give him advice. Just listen. It's a learning experience. |

| re: Donk psychology poker Whilst we will never know what the "donks" thought process was, perhaps OP will give us an insite to why he calls down 3 streets (2/3 of his stack) with second pair ish kicker. Inoredr to do that you have to have a good feel for his overall range.. which in turn means you shouldnt be asking what he was thinking to play his hand like this, you should know. i.e villian bluffs a lot of flops, his turn size bet is always stangely low when he bluffs and he usualy follows through with a blocking bet sized river bluff. In which case you know exactly what he was thinking. "Im going to rep an ace" Not knowing and calling down 3 streets is not something you should be doing. |
