yep I like to do the same thing but the only thing I notice is you see the river card maybe once in every 5 hands my guess with that kind of money on the line who wants to take the big risk

The more advanced the tables, the less showdowns there are going to be because people can determine their likelihood of winning without actually seeing the other person's cards.

Therein lies the difference between playing poker and playing freerolls and low buy-in 'entertainment'.

Pokerstars has replays of some of the larger buy-in tourny's final tables, and the players hole cards are shown. A great learning tool in my opinion.

re: Do you? poker

So....WurlyQ, are you saying that you could possibly go into one of those games and be aggressive?
Yes, dvd, I`ve seen those. Cant believe some times how many people get little cards at the same time.

WurlyQ where do you like to play at since u know the likely hood of my cards I'd really like to play at your table. Nevada I do play to entertain myself you sound like you've read 10 poker books have a poker calculator attached to all your games and start calling the guy a donk because he called your all in with pocket 5's and you had A K and he took the pot lol. truthfully I just enjoy playing its better then vegging out in front of the tv all night long No I've played enough final tables to know its not over my head I can hold my own and be confident in doing so!

I go to the $75 MTT buy-in religously, that's where I learned I have so many holes in my game. You read about concepts in books or in articles, but the higher limit areas you actually see them in action!

I observe how often they play in pots at which position. I try to observe which playing styles the players are using. I also try to notice when the game changes from TAG to blind/ante stealing and how often they steal.

I also notice how they play the bubble and final tables.

Wealth of information on the upper limit tables. This is like seeing it all come together. Some of these players make bank playing these MTT's. If they can do it, so can I. I just gotta learn how.

I usally go the MTT leaderboard to find a specimen to follow around. If you are going to learn, might as well be from the best.

Lizzy, now that is a good idea. Never tried, but can you make notes on these people while we are watching?

You really don't need to. Because there really aren't that many notes to take, I was really, really surprised how straight forward winning poker is. Just be sure to pick a winning player and watch. That's all you have to do.
