| crazy all in monkeys I played some satellites to the DD on FT today (9player Turbo) - even won my first sng ( ) but got somehow frustrated about my opponents (mostly russians) who went all before the flop in with any hand (109o, Jx, Qx, Kx, Ax any suited or pair) - my boyfriend (grafkarow) always says "tight is right" but how can I survive when the blinds are eating me up ? Is it ok to call all ins from these guys with AK, 77+ ? |

| they usually fall eventually. i see a bunch of players wait until the first break to even start playing. its only about 10 min in and yoou still have about 1400. it does get on your nerves but its a freeroll and they are always part of them. waiting is never a bad idea. i usually wait until i am in position to play a hand. if they fold then i will play as usual but if they go all in i usually fold anything but pairs. i dont think there is a perfect answer for how to play with them. whatever you do dont let them get to you. eventually they try to play normal, thats when i like to get into pots with them and take their chips. |

| jimt92, if you read her post you would know she is not talking about the freeroll to the daily dollar, but the 25c+5c satellite 1 table SnGs where 1st and 2nd get $1T and 3rd gets 25cents. I can't say if its right to be calling all of their all ins, but a lot of the time with AK and 77+ you will probably be ahead preflop. But it is a risk and in these turbo SnGs you really can't wait too long because of the blind structure. I think I would rather call a lot of the crap with AKs and 1010+ but either way preflop all ins vs crazy monkeys are a risk. |

| You can't wait too long. And if you know you have the advantage you can't be scared. Sometimes you just have to be aggressive and take them down with the better hand. In the long run you'll win, but the times you lose with the better hand will definitely be frustrating. |

AA, KK, QQ, JJ, TT are hands you can shove with, if you have a bit more guts you can go lower.. when the blinds are low you only shove with AA, KK, QQ. I would only call an all-in with AA, KK, QQ, AK, If you want to go lower you can.. AK, AQ are still all right to shove with, just be sure you are the first to shove. For AJ, JK, JQ, QK, AT i would fold them in EP, only play them in LP when it's folded to you. High PP you can call with, i would not go below TT. Take lots of notes, so when you see them again you know what their shoving range is. I would sit back and wait till the blinds are at 50/100, let them take out their selfs. <<< What i did in my first one. I played my 1st Turbo SNG on FT, had the same problem as you, then i remember to wait for a hand and shove with it. I forgot what i shoved with, i think it was AK. If you can play them around 10:00 AM to 2:00PM, it's less shove fold around that time. If at any point you fall below an M of 10, you can shove on about ATC, i only do this when i'm at an M of 5, do this when it's folded to you well on the button, or SB. M 10 = 10 BB's. Congrats on your 1st game. Don't get frustrated about your opponents.... If you need anything added or have a Q, i will be willing to help you. If anyone has more to add, or if i missed something, do add it. I hope that helps you out. |

| All in monkeys are great in the satellite to DD... its frustrating when you lose to them, but even though the blinds can really eat at your stack, if you play super tight and keep your stack in the about 1500 range until there are five people left, the monkeys wake up and realize that they might actually make it, and you can bluff much better because a 'big stack' is only twice as large as yours, and the larger blinds can build your stack much better. |

- Bet she'll comment on your post tomorrow (didn't let her near the computer today - too many games running ). TBH I rarely shove 1010+ pf in those games - I try to isolate and/or get them to shove over my raise (completely throws them off - had a game w/o being called until HU lately ) - |

| There was this guy at my six handed microstakes ring game who kept raising preflop every other hand and then would shove all in. He won his first two so he had a big stack. People kept folding to his reraises even though he likely had nothing. Finally, I had A5 one hand and after he had checked the flop, I bet the turn with the board KJ88, He reraised me big, but I reraised him back and he folded. Not the smartest of plays on my part and I would have fell into the trap if he did have something that time, but I just felt my ace high was good there after he didn't raise preflop and checked the flop. Just didn't feel like he would have checked twice post flop if he had anything. A few hands more of him bulldozing people with crazy all ins, he leads out with a feeler bet with the board Q35. I had Q10 so I shoved it all. He calls with K7 and I doubled up. Just gotta wait for your shot with these maniacs. The problem is there are many guys who's loose enough to call a big preflop raise with marginal hands but fold right away if they don't hit the flop so these maniacs think they can keep doing it. |

My stats for Jacks took a huge hit, when i lost a huge pot so now i'm up 1.500... Stealing ain't so hard, when your on the button and it gets folded to you, you raise it 3X the BB, hope the BB and the SB fold.. |

I've tried calling all-ins with 77, i got ran over it's a good shove with 77 but calling will kill you. I called an all-in with 66 vs AQ, she hit an Ace on the flop, a Q on the turn. You want to be calling, shoving with in their range. poKerPlayer2oo9 do read my last post about stealing the blinds, if i posted my stats on playing from the button you would see my stats are just about in line with my BB calls/checks. Dibilu, i will post them stats for you, so you can see how much you can steal, or i may PM them to you... Thought the 1.20, 2.25 SNGs are easy. |

| I really hate the call and chase with any 2 sooted cards monkeys, Today at 25nl I flopped a set of kings and a set of queens, only to get called all the way to the river, and I shoved on the turn, only to see the any 2 soooooted cards monkey hit runner runner for a flush, the idiots called my initial Pre flop raises with J5 and 83 sooted. Then on another site I hit a flopped straight so I shoved and got called by 92 soooooted who again hit runner runner for a flush, then I got AA so I shoved pre flop, mainly out of frustration and you can guess what happened, runner runner for flush. 4 hands and $100.00 went poof!!! |

| love playing with the all in people. I break them every time. The key is premium pair pocket a's,k's,or q's even if they do have a,8 if you have the pocket aces and they have a,8 they are going to need a straight , or flush draw to beat you, and it very unlikey that will happen. But if there more people that are calling the all in i would wait until to point that they are not calling him. The more people in the pot the more that your pair loses it winning odds. Let the fish kill each other off, then if he still standing wait for the pair to break him |

| re: crazy all in monkeys poker I hate/love the person who plays in SNG/MTT's and decides to play like a nob and wield there big stack like a weapon (eg blinds 50/100. Villain raises to 4,000 preflop lol). Villain did this 3 times in a row. I held 77 in the SB, all folded to me. I think "f**k it, this is good enough". Villain has 6Ts. Villain hits T on flop. Ohwell I think the call was ok since I knew I was a slight fav since this dude is loose, my hand could hold up. |

| well ur mans basically right for sngs tight is right, they used to be my bread and butter but have gone to cash as its way better profits, alot of sng's come down to volume volume volume, if u want to be a winning player in them. stakes of about 20$ BI and higher, but thats getting of the subject, as for 9-man turbo sat's i still play "tight" until about 10BB then start push/fold poker. Sngs are about survival then knowing ur ICM'S after that........... as for the blokes getting there stack in non stop on ne hand, thats gold!!!!, most turbos are abit of an lottery neway, but thats where volume evens things out, considering your a winning player! also if u fall below 10bb in most cases ne 2 cards r good, more so in turbos. |

| It's not just the going all in preflop that annoys me. It's also the people who make really stupid raises. Like raising 20 times the big blind preflop. Some of their replies: "It's no limit" "That's why they call it no limit" "You gotta pay to play" And then when someone donks out on their reply is always: "Look who won" or "Who won?" For example. I was at a 9 player table last night and I was in the big blind with QQ. The blinds are 10/20. Everyone in front of me limps, so I raise to 180. 2 callers, Villian and some other guy. Flop comes: QKK. Villian bets 150. Other guy calls. I raise to 500. Villian goes all in. Other guys folds. I call. Villian turns over K3. You wanna guess what the turn and river were? 3 and 3....... So I say to him "I raised preflop..." to which he replies "Who won?" People come up with some really stupid replies when they get called out. So you have K3 and lets look at the following: 1. Why are you even limping with such a bad hand in the first place? Why not just fold? 2. It's bad enough that you limped with such a bad hand, why are you then making yourself look even more foolish by calling a raise with that same crappy hand? 3. Although you flopped trips, the fact of the matter is you have a weak kicker and the person who raised preflop is reraising your bet. If they're reraising your bet, there's a good chance they have a good kicker or possibly flopped a full house. Taking all those things into consideration, the best reply this guy came up with was "Who won?". Last edited by Poker_ : 4th January 2010 at 4:36 AM. |
