cannot lay down AA

I had AA on BB in a 6 man table. CO raises to 14c, BTN calls. I 3 bet to 60. CO folds and BTN calls.

Flop's 9T3 rainbow. I lead out with 90c. He shoves. I am looking at calling 2.50 into roughly a 5 pot.

What is in his range that he would call a preflop 3bet with and shove on my show of strength AND I still can beat. AT? KT? JQ?

The answer is I still can't fold despite being likely beat. I've been slammed twice today. Finally got over the hump and made a new high in profits but lost twice to set mines with AA and QQ cuz I can't fold on the flop shove.

What were some of this players stats, is this player aggressive or passive? I'm not folding here unless this player is a nit or very tight passive player. How often does this player cold call pre from the button or late position?

Had no more than 15 hands with this guy, but he didn't strike me as a maniac type.

My gut said I should fold, but my finger clicked on call.

Situations like these are very difficult. There's always a voice at the back of my mind saying maybe he's just got top pair or str draw... Could save myself some coins if I could just lay down big PP more.

sets will kill, but in his range are overpair, and QJ along with top pair, and the slimmer possibility of 2 pair.

Without either numbers on villain, or a decent read, we are only guessing.

Way too many variables on this one. I think you really have to watch them play at least 5 real pots before you can even make a proper read there. Plus, you should watch the speed of the shove compared with other plays etc.

For instance, if he has it clicked to autoraise your bet, odds are he isn't bluffing there.

if was in your position i would also call his allin, since you don't have any reads yet on the players(assuming you just sittted)... checking the flop also shows your ahead (except for a set). we really have to pay sometimes to get a read on players... it will payout anyway once you get to know them and how they play llike what happened to you. cheers!!!

I struggle in these spots too, its extremely difficult to fold that... Ever.

Generally, I find that unless the guy is a maniac or fish (and I had no notes on him), if he shoves into me after I showed big time strength, almost all the time he has it. Everytime a situation like this happens I tell myself you gotta know when to fold. But then the next time this rolls around, I do the same thing. Hate myself sometimes.

I am now down 10 BIs in cash in the last month, which is by far my worst stretch ever since I started playing online in 2009. I am still having a winning over the stretch cuz of some nice finishes in MTTs, but I am starting to doubt whether I should continue at cash.

Given that he shoved and you were getting odds, I think you were right to call - although learning to go with your gut at these low levels will save you money later. If there had been a raise instead of a shove, and you knew he wasn't a maniac then folding would have been right to do (and probably easier).

When you start with 100 BBs or less, getting it in on the flop with AA is going to be +EV on most board textures, especially this one.

I agree with most of the posts. I mean how many times have people with top pair, top kicker get it all in? It happens in the micros. And then it's the over pair that kills. Also keep in mind trips are not that all common.

And I'll be honest, I would have made the same call in most cases.

Similar thing happened again. Got beat by a fish with 45. He shoved on a 6655 board. It was only 90 more cents to call, so I did. The guy was so loose I don't feel too bad about this one except for getting screwed by some random fish again.

Raised pre, raised on flop. On the turn, I decided to check call since on that texture, either I was dead or I could afford to give him a a chance to make a pair on the river most likely. Don't think that would have changed the results.

EDIT: Then 3 bet with AJ suited this same guy who limped. Long story short I flop trip A's, he flops a set of 2.

Gave my whole stack to this guy in these 2 hands, and lost AK vs. AQ all in pre earlier. I've won 1 hand in 50 hands dealt. (preflop raise) The other times I raised I got called and lost every single one. I didn't call a single raise prflop.

Getting slaughtered at cash since July. I've been on so many "breaks" from cash since, lol.

Time to use my pts for a MTT and hope for the best.

Call the shove always on the flop. You're only behind to a set here, but that's unlikely, noone instantly shoves when hitting a set at these stakes, usually just check/call and shove turn or river.

You're most likely up against A,J, Queens+ etc..

He may have 10,J, A,10 or A,9, A,7, J,Q, JJ, QQ KK, or even any pocket pair there. Or he may have you beat but it wasn't a bad call. There are a lot of maniacs out there at those stakes, so it is a tough fold. I think you played it fine.
