calling stations...

Feels like im creating to many threads lol..

okay I would like to know how to deal with the calling stations..seems like my c-bet never work against them and yet I have a hard time detecting one..

also on my hud display would a high went to showdown % indicate a calling station??

If you're in a hand with a calling station you need to have an actual hand to go to showdown. It doesn't have to be the stone cold nuts mind you, but you should feel like you have a reasonable chance of having the best hand. They're great when you have a hand as you're almost guaranteed to get paid off. I just started using poker tracker, so I'm not too sure about the stat thing, but if you pay attention to the table they're pretty easy to spot after several hands.

Dont C bet calling stations typically. Just get a hand and value bet every street. Do not get tricky with them or try to be deceptive they really arent paying attention to you anyway. As for Poker Tracker, % showdown works but there are also fold flop, flold turn, fold river % which means amount they fold to a bet so these would also be good indicators.

The most difficult thing about calling stations is designating them. Once you know a player is a CS, they are the easiest players to play against. Only bet when you have a hand, value bet strong hands preflop, but otherwise don't steal their blinds, value bet medium to strong hands on every street, and don't pay them off when they hit their hand on the river. They WILL suck out on you occasionally, but the long-term profit more than makes up for this.

Definitely never try to bluff a calling station. (one word of advice from an idiot who seems to love doing it!)

I found this gem there other night, realized how awesome he was when I raised preflop, and he called my shove into this board T 4 3 with K J ... Anyhow he runs a juicy 46/14/3 over 150 and his post flop play is particularly horrible... i.e. CR me on a flop of A23 rainbow with 89o and double barreled the turn, triple barreled the river, then called my shove. After stacking him 3 times he left and I went to bed. So when I came got on tonight I immediately sought him out and sat at him table. I wasn't able to get to his left so I sat across from him. When some people got up I moved seats to his left and after 2 hands he got up from his seat and moved to my left (NH him)... MY questions are this

When you find a profitable player do you stalk them?

Do you sacrifice position and/or starting hand quality to get in hands with them EVEN if it is multi way? Especially if we feel we can stack anytime we get a reasonable hand?

Is changing seats going to far to exploit? I feel like I tipped him off to my plans to take all of his monies.

Do you give them a little loose action so they don't get discouraged?

Never, never get cute witha calling station. I do tend to be one myself now and then(filling open ended str8s and flushes from the flop). The can make you know what devestated means if they hit!

like people have already said, you need solid values when betting against a calling station. usually at low stakes, they do not want to get bluffed off a hand so they will call with bottom pair or ace high. however, if you have nothing, their bottom pair beats you and you just lost that hand.
